Requirements<br />

<strong>The</strong> certificates will require the successful completion <strong>of</strong> 15 graduate credits <strong>of</strong><br />

defined coursework in a single content or issue area within either public administration<br />

or urban affairs. Upon completion <strong>of</strong> the coursework a certificate will be<br />

issued.<br />

Admission<br />

To participate in the certificate program an applicant first must satisfy the requirements<br />

for entrance into the Graduate School, or have a bachelor’s degree and the<br />

equivalent <strong>of</strong> five years experience in a pr<strong>of</strong>essional, administrative, or leadership<br />

position. Only applicants for admission as a non-degree graduate student within<br />

the department or students who are fully admitted to other graduate programs <strong>of</strong><br />

the <strong>University</strong> and meet the experiential requirements are eligible for the certificates.<br />

Students admitted to the graduate programs <strong>of</strong> the department are not eligible for<br />

the certificate programs. Should a student wish to pursue additional coursework,<br />

the student must seek formal admission to either the MA in Urban Studies or MPA<br />

program. Participation in the certificate program in no way promotes or assures<br />

admission to graduate programs <strong>of</strong> the department, nor does it alter the requirements<br />

for admission to those degree programs. Subject to the Graduate School’s<br />

time limitation rule for degree completion, once a student has been admitted to a<br />

degree program, courses taken as part <strong>of</strong> a certificate program may be transferred<br />

into either <strong>of</strong> the department’s master’s programs.<br />

Program<br />

<strong>The</strong>re are six variations <strong>of</strong> the Certificate Program in Public Administration and<br />

Urban Studies; a certificate in Public Management, a certificate in Non-pr<strong>of</strong>it Management,<br />

a certificate in Local and Regional Development Administration, a certificate<br />

in Policy Analysis, a certificate in Program Evaluation, and a certificate in<br />

Urban Affairs. Each certificate requires the successful completion <strong>of</strong> 15 credit hours<br />

<strong>of</strong> required and elective coursework <strong>of</strong>fered by the Department <strong>of</strong> Public Administration<br />

and Urban Studies, as specified below.<br />

This certificate program provides pr<strong>of</strong>essionals an opportunity to expand their knowledge<br />

base in the design and behavior <strong>of</strong> structural systems. It is designed for people<br />

who cannot make the full time commitment to the graduate degree program<br />

but would like to receive recognition <strong>of</strong> their continued effort in the area <strong>of</strong> study or<br />

would like to cumulate credit hours toward their ultimate graduate degree goal.<br />

Admission Criteria<br />

This certificate is designed primarily for students with a B.S. degree in Civil Engineering<br />

or a closely related field.<br />

Civil Engineering graduates may earn a Structural Engineering Certificate by completing<br />

SUPPLY CHAIN MANAGEMENT<br />

Supply chain management (SCM) is the process <strong>of</strong> planning, implementing, and<br />

controlling the operations <strong>of</strong> the supply chain as efficiently as possible. Supply chain<br />

pr<strong>of</strong>essionals are actively involved in key management and coordination functions<br />

related to purchasing, contract negotiation, inventory management, transportation,<br />

and import/export policies. Today, it would be difficult to find an organization, large<br />

or small, that doesn’t understand the importance <strong>of</strong> supply chain management, and<br />

how successful implementation <strong>of</strong> supply chain management principles can have<br />

a positive impact on its overall success.<br />

<strong>The</strong> Supply Chain Management graduate certificate program has been designed<br />

to meet the needs <strong>of</strong> business pr<strong>of</strong>essionals who are interested in developing expertise<br />

in supply chain operations management. <strong>The</strong> fifteen credit hour certificate program<br />

consists <strong>of</strong> coursework addressing key aspects <strong>of</strong> supply chain operations<br />

management, including logistics, sourcing, and globalization.<br />

Persons wanting to enroll in a CBA graduate certificate program must already be<br />

accepted into a graduate or pr<strong>of</strong>essional degree program or already possess a<br />

gradaute or pr<strong>of</strong>essional degree.<br />
