of Applicants
for METP 5
T
he application period for METP 5 ended on 7 January
2010 and over 400 applications from European and
Chinese applicants were received by the METP Team,
which marked an increase of twenty-five percent compared to
the number of applications received for METP 4.
All parts of each application were incorporated into METP's
database: the personal data sheet, which contains all 'hard data' of
each applicant, such as name, age, nationality, education, company
contacts etc.; the curriculum vitae, a tool for the selection
jurors to quickly have an overview of the person they meet; a
letter of intent from a company agreeing to host the applicant as
an intern in China or Europe respectively; and, most importantly,
the description of the applicant's personal motivation for joining
METP and the description of the project/business plan, which the
applicant asks METP to support. METP's web-based application
procedure has proven effective and convenient to use. That all
