Fort Island<br />

primary School<br />

The Arrowhead community thanks the Omnova<br />

Solutions Foundation for the support of our leveled<br />

library. With their help, Arrowhead Primary School<br />

purchased many new books, classroom literacy<br />

activities, and assessments that will benefit all<br />

the students for many years to come. Thank you,<br />

Omnova! Pictured above are students reading from<br />

the books purchased through the grant.<br />

As part of exploring larger numbers, Mrs. Linda<br />

Parker’s class at Fort Island Primary School<br />

built larger patterns with patterning blocks. The<br />

challenge came when students not only had to<br />

create a four place pattern but also put it into a<br />

shape.<br />

The first and second grade classes of Mrs. Jeanne<br />

Mathey and Mrs. Theresa Kester at Arrowhead<br />

Primary School, with the help of The University<br />

of Akron’s student teacher Miss Aimee Panepucci,<br />

celebrate Dr. Seuss’s birthday, complete with a visit<br />

from Thing 1 and Thing 2!<br />

Second graders in Mrs. Meredith Morgan’s class at<br />

Fort Island Primary School were able to experience<br />

snow shoeing on one of our wintry days as part of<br />

outdoor education day.<br />

Students in Mrs. Diane Lucas’ 3rd grade class read<br />

“Little House in the Big Woods” and held a pioneer<br />

feast for Thanksgiving. The students dressed as<br />

pioneers and gave sepia pictures to their parents as<br />

Christmas gifts. Above are two students pictured in<br />

their pioneer outfits.<br />

The Fort Island Primary School climbing wall was<br />

officially opened for students this winter. This<br />

wall was made possible as a result of a generous<br />

grant from Mrs. Jamie Brookhart and the Carl T. &<br />

Margot A. Johnson Foundation.
