News From
Fort Island
primary School
The Arrowhead community thanks the Omnova
Solutions Foundation for the support of our leveled
library. With their help, Arrowhead Primary School
purchased many new books, classroom literacy
activities, and assessments that will benefit all
the students for many years to come. Thank you,
Omnova! Pictured above are students reading from
the books purchased through the grant.
As part of exploring larger numbers, Mrs. Linda
Parker’s class at Fort Island Primary School
built larger patterns with patterning blocks. The
challenge came when students not only had to
create a four place pattern but also put it into a
shape.
The first and second grade classes of Mrs. Jeanne
Mathey and Mrs. Theresa Kester at Arrowhead
Primary School, with the help of The University
of Akron’s student teacher Miss Aimee Panepucci,
celebrate Dr. Seuss’s birthday, complete with a visit
from Thing 1 and Thing 2!
Second graders in Mrs. Meredith Morgan’s class at
Fort Island Primary School were able to experience
snow shoeing on one of our wintry days as part of
outdoor education day.
Students in Mrs. Diane Lucas’ 3rd grade class read
“Little House in the Big Woods” and held a pioneer
feast for Thanksgiving. The students dressed as
pioneers and gave sepia pictures to their parents as
Christmas gifts. Above are two students pictured in
their pioneer outfits.
The Fort Island Primary School climbing wall was
officially opened for students this winter. This
wall was made possible as a result of a generous
grant from Mrs. Jamie Brookhart and the Carl T. &
Margot A. Johnson Foundation.
