Making a Difference!<br />

he capital campaign presents an exciting opportunity for <strong>the</strong> <strong>School</strong> <strong>of</strong> <strong>Social</strong> <strong>Work</strong> to<br />

continue to enhance its tradition <strong>of</strong> excellence in <strong>the</strong> areas <strong>of</strong> teaching, research, and service.<br />

It is through <strong>the</strong> investments made by alumni, retired faculty, current faculty, corpor<strong>at</strong>e and<br />

found<strong>at</strong>ion donors and friends <strong>of</strong> <strong>the</strong> <strong>School</strong> th<strong>at</strong> <strong>the</strong> goals <strong>of</strong> this campaign will be made a reality.<br />

Building <strong>the</strong> New Learning Environment<br />

• Increase <strong>the</strong> level <strong>of</strong> financial support available to students by enhancing existing scholarships<br />

and assistantships and establishing new ones.<br />

• Fur<strong>the</strong>r enhance <strong>the</strong> quality <strong>of</strong> teaching and research through <strong>the</strong> continu<strong>at</strong>ion <strong>of</strong> existing<br />

endowed pr<strong>of</strong>essorships and <strong>the</strong> development <strong>of</strong> a newly endowed Pr<strong>of</strong>essorship in <strong>the</strong> area <strong>of</strong><br />

African American family studies, <strong>the</strong> study <strong>of</strong> Gerontology or Child Welfare.<br />

• Enhance <strong>the</strong> learning experience <strong>of</strong> students through increased opportunities for particip<strong>at</strong>ion<br />

in service–learning projects.<br />

Maximizing Research Opportunities<br />

• Secure funding to continue current research in <strong>the</strong> fields <strong>of</strong> child welfare reform, juvenile<br />

justice and use <strong>of</strong> virtual reality technology.<br />

• Obtain funding to support research interests <strong>of</strong> all faculty.<br />

Competing in <strong>the</strong> Global Economy<br />

• Cre<strong>at</strong>e among our students a gre<strong>at</strong>er awareness, understanding and appreci<strong>at</strong>ion <strong>of</strong> diverse<br />

cultures by increasing <strong>the</strong> opportunities for students to study abroad.<br />

Points <strong>of</strong> Pride:<br />

The UGA <strong>School</strong> <strong>of</strong> <strong>Social</strong> <strong>Work</strong> is currently ranked in <strong>the</strong> top 25 percent<br />

<strong>of</strong> MSW programs n<strong>at</strong>ionwide by U.S. News & World Report.<br />

The <strong>School</strong> <strong>of</strong> <strong>Social</strong> <strong>Work</strong> is fully accredited by <strong>the</strong> Council on <strong>Social</strong><br />

<strong>Work</strong> Educ<strong>at</strong>ion.<br />

Over four thousand <strong>School</strong> <strong>of</strong> <strong>Social</strong> <strong>Work</strong> alumni are helping<br />

countless families throughout <strong>the</strong> n<strong>at</strong>ion and <strong>the</strong> world.<br />

The <strong>School</strong>’s study abroad programs prepare students to learn firsthand<br />

about different cultures in countries such as Ghana, Argentina,<br />

and Ireland.<br />

The <strong>School</strong> provides social work educ<strong>at</strong>ion <strong>at</strong> <strong>the</strong> undergradu<strong>at</strong>e,<br />

masters, and doctoral levels through four degree programs, including<br />

a new gradu<strong>at</strong>e degree in nonpr<strong>of</strong>it management.
