BROKEN CROÍ / HEART BRISTE
by Manchán Magan
A self-loathing dancer and a fanatical Gaeilgeoir
seek to connect in a language lesson that
swerves from slapstick to acrimony to personal
revelation. Broken Croí/Heart Briste is a comedic and
heartfelt look at fractured relationships, using a blend of
Irish and English to reveal the warped truth behind our
passions.
Is it Irish? Can language be a weapon? Who the feic knows?
Broken Croí/Heart Briste won the Stewart Parker Award
for Best Irish Language Drama in 2009 and was nominated
for Best New Play and Best Supporting Actress at the Irish
Times Irish Theatre Awards and for two awards at Dublin
Fringe Festival 2009.
“Broken Croí/Heart Briste is much more than just a play
about the Irish language. It is a comedic and heartfelt
look at fractured relationships that utilises the
dexterity of the language to bring the story to life.”
OH, FRINGE!
Performed in English and Irish by Manchán Magan &
Eva O’Connor. Directed by Tom Creed.
Supported by Foras Na Gaeilge.
Invisible Atom
Invisible Atom is an epic one-man show that
takes place on an impossibly small stage. Atom
is a bright up-and-coming stockbroker with a
beautiful girlfriend and a new child. He has everything until
he experiences a catastrophic reversal of fortune. We find
him at the apex of a jump: the exact moment where up
becomes down. In that split-second, time freezes and the
normal laws of motion and matter dissolve. A tight, funny,
and intelligent script and a virtuoso performance.
Based in Halifax, Nova Scotia, 2b Theatre Company creates,
develops, produces and tours original theatre experiences.
“Every element falls into place with professional
precision and true love of the theatrical arts... Go
see this show and be inspired, entertained and
intellectually impressed” NYtheatre.com
