PCC Briefings
The PCC met on Wednesday 17 th July 2013, in St Margaret’s Vestry. Items discussed were
as follows:
• The repair and cleaning of Windows in St Margaret’s. Dr Pedro Gaspar,
Senior Conservation Officer at the Cathedral & Church Buildings Division of
the Archbishop’s Council in London had raised a number of detailed
technical objections to the proposals. These are now being addressed by our
Contractor who will supply Dr Gaspar with more information. Once Dr
Gaspar has given approval the work will be undertaken.
• The Social Events Committee is planning to hold another Jazz on the Green
event.
• Bishop Martin will be visiting our Parish in late January 2014.
• Deanery Synod reported on how successful the Food Bank has been which is
operating from St John’s Church, Burgess Hill. Food has been donated by
customers outside of Waitrose and more recently Tesco’s.
• The Youth Worker interview will take place on Friday 26 th July.
• The PCC’s main discussion continued on the Structure of Services for all
three Churches. The PCC want to find the right services for each of our three
Churches. The PCC will continue this discussion at the next PCC meeting in
August.

The Beacon Churches “100 Club”
The winners of the June draw were Diana Martin and Sylvia Ager both receiving a
prize of £20.
(The 100 Club was started 20 years ago in August 1993. Please see excerpt from
the August 1993 Ditchling Beacon on page 39.)

Streat Barn Garden
The next session to maintain Streat Barn Garden will be on Saturday 10 August
at 9.30am. Any help would be most welcome. Coffee and biscuits will be served.
The next session after that will be on 14 September.
