William Burton – asked if there were specifics regarding the size of structures
impacted by this change. Chair Johnson provided Mr. Burton with a copy of the
page that contains the size specifics.
Don Davis – Agrees with this process as long as accessory structures do not
become another residence and added that the Commission must stop high
density.
Commissioner Porter moved and Commissioner Ruiz seconded a motion to approve Resolution
2012-04-11-01.
The motion was unanimously approved.

• Rebecca Ludwig - The speaker commented on the following:

Mustang Lane 22 unit affordable housing complex project – asked Commission
about the EDA role in the project and also asked for clarification of the zoning for
this area. Chair Johnson responded that the Staff Report presented at the last
meeting clearly detailed the zoning. The staff report is available on the City of
Jurupa Valley website.
Lords Constructors/CRST project (approved on 3/24/12) – reported having
spoken to the developer following the last meeting
o Assembly Bill 1590 - Riverside Board of Supervisors Agenda dated 3/20/12
(item 3.6) – suggested the Commission review this bill to see if there would be a
negative impact to the City of Jurupa Valley.
8. Planning Commissioner’s Comments and Questions
Commissioner Burris:
• Is working with Mr. Merrell to schedule speakers for best practices training at future
Commission meetings.
• CALEMA Office of Planning and Research has released a draft document that is a
“How To Guide” on dealing with extreme weather related hazards. They are asking
public agencies to review the document and comment.
• On 5/5/12 at 8:00 a.m. the local APA is holding a “Plan to Hike” event at Mount
Rubidoux. Chair Johnson added that author Glenn Wenzel who has written a book
on Mount Rubioux will be presenting a history of Mount Rubidoux at that event.
Commissioner Johnson:
• Article in Press Enterprise this past weekend stated that the County of Riverside
plans to sue adjacent cities that adversely affect the County. She requested that
Deputy City Attorney Diaz and City Attorney Thorson review the article.
• Article in UCR Magazine on studies regarding the correlation between the sale of
alcohol and the crime rate in neighborhoods where it is sold.
• Question directed to Planning Manager Merrell and Attorney Diaz about the legalities
of Commissioners giving copies of such articles of interest to fellow Commissioners.
