Uphill, downhill
Numerous paths in the impressive moun-
tain landscape attract mountain bikers from
everywhere. There are easier and more
difficult routes. All paths are full of variety
and convey a real mountain bike feeling,
regardless of difficulty. The ride from Schaan
via Planken to the Gafadura alp is very
popular. Resting at the Gafadura Cabin with
a fantastic view is the reward for the effort.
Malbun chairlift
You‘d like to go all the way up, maybe to
the Sareiserjoch, but without effort? It‘s very
simple: The chairlift takes you rapidly from
1600 to 2000 meters (5250 to 6560 feet)
above sea level in the summer. Enjoy the
beautiful panoramic terrace and the
wonderful smell of Malbun ham. Or have
the mountain panorama, the many flowers,
and the well-marked paths tempted you
to take further steps to get even closer to
the sun?
Liechtenstein is athletic
Liechtenstein and its diverse landscape is
the ideal place to explore the country on
horseback. In-line skaters rave about the
Rhine Dam, where skates roll almost by
themselves and the rushing sounds of the
Rhine inspire top performances. Swimming
in Liechtenstein is also in, at the Mühleholz
outdoor pool between Vaduz and Schaan in
the summer, and in the indoor pools in
Balzers, Eschen, Schaan, and Triesen in the
winter. Or do you love balls and arrows?
Then we recommend mini golf, bocce,
bowling, and billiards or a game of darts.
Your fitness will be taken care of indoors
and outdoors, whether on an outdoor
exercise course in the middle of splendid
nature, or in one of the many fitness centers
throughout the country. Liechtenstein is the
right place for tennis fans, since tennis is
very popular in Liechtenstein. This is why
almost all towns have outdoor and indoor
tennis courts. And squash players? They
meet up in Vaduz. Floating in the air over
the shining silver Rhine on a paraglider,
alone or as a passenger, is freedom itself. We
can make this dream come true as well. For
golfers, there are a number of courses near
Liechtenstein in Switzerland and Vorarlberg.
And the driving range in Schaan is the right
place to practice.
The Rätikon Trail offers the conquest of
three countries at once. The loop trail leads
around the Rätikon from Steg (Liechtenstein)
through Prättigau (Switzerland) to
Gargellen (Austria) and from there on the
Austrian side from Montafon through the
Bludenz Alpine region back to Steg.
The Via Alpina hiking trail was created
in the Year of the Mountains in 2002.
The trail through eight Alpine countries
traverses the main crest of the Alps several
times, connecting Trieste with Monaco via
Bavaria and Liechtenstein. The central route
through Liechtenstein leads over the Three
Sisters massif with the Fürstensteig to the
intermediate stop on Sücka.
