In his previous position as VP Operations
at Statoil, Ingbjørn Refsdal addressed the
need for a holistic approach to technical
integrity management since vital information
was created and located in various
systems.
Mr Refsdal’s time is now dedicated to
improving Statoil’s technical integrity
management system – through changes in
work processes, methodology, competence
and tools, based on best practices in the
industry. TIMP brings a uniform approach
to the follow-up and management of technical
integrity across all the company’s disciplines
and assets. As the users gain more
experience by using the system daily, TIMP
will be continuously improved to support
the control and management of the assets’
technical integrity in a lifecycle perspective.
The TIMP team has created a system
that is based on streamlining information
and making it available to decision-makers
through a common work platform, visualised
in a portal. Other industry players
have shown interest in the program, and
Mr Refsdal explains his willingness to share
Statoil’s experience with others.
“As an industry, we should become much
better at talking together and sharing our
experience. We have a tendency to work in
separate silos. We share information after
an incident, but why wait? We have to get
of major accidents,” he says.
DECISIONS
TIMP is now in use for all Statoil operating
facilities, offshore and onshore, in both
Norway and Denmark (Kalundborg). It
centres on a portal where information is
accessed and evaluated. TIMP gives users
colour-coded graphics that provide a full
overview of and detailed reports on the
condition of the asset at any given time.
Decision makers are better able to prioritise
based on relevant information and
assessments. Aligned work processes provide
a common way to follow up the tech-
