KPI’s current focus is on improving
its performance in process safety management
and crisis management and
understanding its risk portfolio. When
operating, for example, a filling station in
a city centre, especially when residential
development is continuing in the area, KPI
has to ensure that it continually reassesses
the associated risks and can demonstrate
suitable control of these risks to relevant
stakeholders.
TRUST AND CONFIDENCE
“Building trust and confidence is a must
for KPI,” emphasises Mr Qabazard. “One
accident of any kind is one too many. It
has to be easy for our neighbours to trust
us, and we have to communicate with our
stakeholders to ensure we are perceived
as trustworthy.”
When asked about his personal ambitions,
Mr Qabazard becomes more visionary:
“Remember, we are all as human beings
connected to each other. We need to protect
our communities, our local environment
and the global environment. We have
to take care of the world and ensure our
children and grandchildren have safe and
clean surroundings. My intention is to contribute
both personally and through my
management position in an industry that
has a huge impact.
“We have some results that prove our
contributions,” he proudly remarks, mentioning
that Q8 was the first company to
introduce unleaded fuel in Europe as early
as in 1985, and that it is currently trialling
environmentally friendly zero-carbon service
stations in Denmark and Italy.
