MARKETING
UKWA teams up with
first web firm to
specialise in logistics
UKWA members now
have access to high quality,
cost-effective websites,
along with web education
and support services,
when UKWA Web
Services is launched at
Multimodal this week.
UKWA CEO, Roger
Williams, identified the
lack of internet knowledge
or of high quality provision
in websites within
his sector last year
and undertook to
find a service partner
who understood the
logistics sector and could
deliver on a programme
of website development
and education for his 700
members.
“Almost 120 of our
members do not have
websites,” says Williams.
“And many more have
websites which are inadequate
to the crucial role
they play in sales and
marketing for modern
logistics companies. As
part of our decision to
build up our portfolio of
member support services
we undertook to find a
high-quality service
provider who could not
only offer quality, costeffective
web solutions to
members but help them
to maximise their websites’
potential.”
White Rose Web
Solutions was the choice
of the UKWA’s board and
will launch its service for
the trade association at
Multimodal this week,
trading as UKWA Web
Services. Director Louise
Cole says: “We believe
we are the first web
services company to
specialise in sites for
the logistics sector. We
have identified several
key obstacles to warehousing
and transport
companies maximising
the sales potential of their
websites.
“There is often a lack
of strategy and limited
understanding as to what
the website should be
achieving. Companies are
also struggling to find
agencies who will provide
good content management
systems, so clients
remain dependent upon
expensive designers for
updates. Alternatively
there is no one in-house
with the skills or time to
update the site. This is
why so many warehousing
and transport websites
are woefully out of date,”
she says. “The other factor
is that logistics companies
understand logistics
and web agencies understand
websites and rarely
do the two understand
one another. That’s where
we come in.”
UKWA Web Services is
born out the road transport
and logistics press
and so has extensive
experience of both new
media and the logistics
industry.
“We are media professionals
but we have
served the road transport
and warehousing
companies in one form
or another for over a
decade and understand
the sector well,”
says Cole. “Every writer
and photographer we use
is very experienced within
logistics and that gives
our clients confidence and
a product that meets their
needs.”
