1704 - Basic Responder: Rescue<br />
<strong>Fire</strong>fighting <strong>Curriculum</strong><br />
This course is intended for members who will respond to vehicle collisions and perform extrication<br />
at the local level. Through this course, the member will achieve a basic understanding of<br />
vehicle extrication, vehicle stabilization and control zones using their department’s equipment.<br />
This course will not meet the <strong>Fire</strong>fighter II prerequisites, but is intended for local response operations.<br />
Prerequisite: First Aid/CPR; Hazardous Materials Awareness-level is required, but Hazardous Materials Operation<br />
level is strongly recommended.<br />
Approx. 12 hours<br />
1705 - Basic SC <strong>Fire</strong> and Emergency Responder: Certified <strong>Fire</strong>fighter<br />
This course is intended for members who may engage in interior fire fighting tactical operations<br />
under the direct supervision of a more senior level firefighter. Through this course, the member<br />
will achieve a basic understanding of interior structural fire fighting, interior search and rescue<br />
using their department’s policies and procedures. This member may perform operations in a potential<br />
IDLH atmosphere and is certified by the State of <strong>South</strong> <strong>Carolina</strong> to perform interior fire fighting.<br />
Prerequisite: 1703 or equivalent (1152 is not equivalent)<br />
Approx. 32 - 40 hours<br />
