Rescue <strong>Curriculum</strong><br />

This course is part of the Structural Collapse Technician program. It is designed to provide the senior-level<br />

responder with the knowledge, skills and abilities necessary to safely respond and function within a structural<br />

collapse, urban search and rescue environment. Topics include: setup, operation and maintenance of technical<br />

search equipment, including cameras and acoustic listening devices used in the location of buried survivors.<br />

Prerequisites: 3310<br />

PPE is to be provided by student and includes: steel-toed boots, helmet, leather gloves, eye protection, hearing<br />

protection, coveralls or long pants and shirts with long sleeves.<br />

Hours: 20 (2 days)<br />

Students: Min: 10 Max: 16<br />

Fee: $150; $325 non-fire service; $425 out-of-state and military<br />

Grant fee: $10,000<br />

Note: On-campus delivery only<br />

Rescue<br />

3390 CONFINED SPACE ENTRY OPERATIONS<br />

This course covers the OSHA requirement for entry into Permit Required Confined Spaces and Pre-Incident<br />

Planning. The course addresses the hazards of confined spaces, air monitoring, ventilation, confined space rescue<br />

equipment and the confined space management system. Numerous hands-on skill sessions, inside and outside<br />

the classroom, help prepare the confined space entrant for a safe entry and exit from a confined space.<br />

Prerequisite: 3310<br />

Hours: 24<br />

Students: Min: 15 Max: 20<br />

Fee: $25<br />

Grant Fee: $4,800 class of 20<br />

Note: Use of the SCFA Confined Space trailer (includes delivery) $50<br />

PPE: Low Profile Helmet, safety goggles or safety glasses, leather gloves, safety work boots<br />

3392 CONFINED SPACE RESCUE I<br />

This course addresses the requirement for rescue from Permit Required Confined Spaces and the safe removal<br />

of a confined space victim. The course addresses patient packaging, confined space rescue communication<br />

systems and entry rescue from vertical and horizontal confined spaces. Numerous hands-on skill sessions and<br />

rescue scenarios inside a confined space training prop are part of the course. Before considering enrolling in<br />

this class, and since this course can be physically challenging and demanding inside the confined space training<br />

prop, the student should be in good physical condition.<br />

Prerequisite: 3390<br />

Hours: 16<br />

Students: Min: 15 Max: 20<br />

Fee: $25<br />

Grant Fee: $3,600 class of 20<br />

Note: Use of SCFA confined space trailer (includes delivery) $50 / unless course is concurrent with 3390<br />
