2135 BUILDING CONSTRUCTION RELATED TO THE FIRE SERVICE<br />
This course provides students with basic instruction regarding building design and construction and how it<br />
relates to emergency operations. Using IFSTA’s Building Construction Related to the <strong>Fire</strong> Service, the student<br />
will be introduced to an in-depth study in construction principles and practices with a new emphasis on<br />
firefighter safety. The course also addresses newer types of construction that may be difficult to identify and<br />
green construction principles.<br />

2144 INCIDENT COMMAND FOR HIGH-RISE OPERATIONS<br />
This National <strong>Fire</strong> <strong>Academy</strong> program is designed to assist emergency response officers who have responsibility<br />
for managing high-rise incidents. This includes organizing resources, developing strategies and managing tactical<br />
operations to protect life and minimize damage.<br />
Prerequisite: 2137 or 2147<br />
Hours: 16<br />
Students: Min: 12 Max: 30<br />
Fee: $25 grant fee: $1,200/class<br />
2145 INCIDENT COMMAND SYSTEM FOR STRUCTURAL COLLAPSE INCIDENTS<br />
This National <strong>Fire</strong> <strong>Academy</strong> program is designed to provide fire officers with an understanding of command<br />
operations including: aspects of structural collapse, basic command procedures and ICS organizational structure,<br />
various resource levels, types and capabilities used for structural collapse incidents, critical factors and<br />
issues that affect scene management, operational considerations used at structural collapse incidents, response<br />
operations phases associated with a structural collapse incident, and technical rescue expertise and equipment<br />
required for safe operations and effective incident management. Students should understand and be able to<br />
apply the ICS concept..<br />
