ADMINISTRATION AND LOGISTICS<br />

Section I. PERSONNEL MANAGEMENT AND ADMINISTRATION<br />

27. General<br />

a. The company comm<strong>and</strong>er is responsible for the administrative<br />

<strong>and</strong> logistical functions of the company. These functions are<br />

vital to efficient operation, <strong>and</strong> require continuous attention. The<br />

company comm<strong>and</strong>er selects <strong>and</strong> actively supervises subordinates<br />

in the performance of these functions. His principal assistant is<br />

the executive officer. The company comm<strong>and</strong>er requests assistance<br />

from battle group when required.<br />

b. The procedures described in this chapter are a guide only.<br />

They are subject to modification by appropriate regulations, directives,<br />

<strong>and</strong> policies of higher headquarters. They are, primarily,<br />

the procedures used under combat conditions.<br />

c. For duties of personnel having specific administrative <strong>and</strong><br />

logistical functions, see Chapter 1.<br />

d, For additional discussion of administration <strong>and</strong> logistics<br />

within the battle group, see FM 7-21, FM 7-40 or FM 57-21, as<br />

appropriate.<br />

28. Personnel Areas of Responsibility<br />

a. Maintenance of Unit Strength.<br />

(1) Strength records <strong>and</strong> reports.<br />

(a) In combat, company morning reports are prepared by<br />

the battle group personnel section, <strong>and</strong> based on information<br />

submitted by the company in "feeder" reports.<br />

The official morning report is signed by the<br />

personnel officer <strong>and</strong> forwarded to higher headquarters<br />

with the organizational copy (number two copy)<br />

returned to the company for file.<br />

(b) The company comm<strong>and</strong>er submits a daily on-line<br />

strength report which reflects the number of personnel<br />

who are on line (in battle positions or assisting in<br />

controlling the fighting elements) <strong>and</strong> who are not on<br />

line. This report is a modification of the daily status<br />

report used in garrison.<br />
