A scheduled meeting of the Board of Directors (BOD) of the Texas Region RROC was held Sunday, March 28, 2010 at the Hampton Inn on 320 Texas Ave. S, in College Station, Texas. Chairman Phillip Reese called the meeting to order at 8:34 AM CST, welcomed everyone and thanked them for their attendance. All Board members were in attendance, except for Elaine Krazer, Activities Director. Director Cathie Mouton was on speaker phone from her home in Beaumont. In addition, several region members were present. Secretary’s Report: Sharon Galvan reported that the minutes from the last Board meeting had been unanimously approved and printed in the LSL for all members to read. Also, an electronic vote was unanimously passed by the BOD for plaques to be presented at the Spring Meet to the Bethunes, Bridges, and Adams for their planning and coordination of the event. Treasurer’s Report: Vernon Frost discussed ideas how to increase attendance at Region Events. It was reported that National is putting together a survey of what members would like and share with the Regions. Recap of 2009 finance report was published in the January/February issue of the LSL and approved by the BOD. Vernon submitted his recent report to the Board, it was discussed, and Sharon Galvan made the motion to approve the report, which was seconded by Eddy Bridges. The motion passed unanimously. Membership Report: Sneed Adams is waiting for the official numbers from National. In December of 2009, membership was 309. Cathie Mouton is on the National committee that is doing the survey to improve membership. When completed, the survey will be included in the LSL and sent to all 400 RROC Texas Region members. The BOD thought a survey would be a useful tool, and Cathie made a motion to create the survey, Sneed Adams gave a second, and it was passed unanimously by the BOD. National Report: Sneed Adams said many issues are being discussed at the National level. Among those are the 2010 budget, and initiatives to decrease costs. The focus at the next National Board meeting in Toronto will be the budget. Dues have been increased $10 this year and new sponsors are being courted. Editor’s Report: Steve Krazer reports that the next LSL will be in June and include the membership directory. He encouraged members to submit interesting articles regarding events/ occasions their PMC had participated in, and also articles regarding colorful former Region members who might be of interest to the readers. Activities: A discussion was held about the location of the annual Tech Session and what location would attract the most members. After much discussion, Sharon Galvan made a motion to keep the Tech Session in Austin, Phillip Reese gave a second, and the motion passed unanimously. Al Briseno made a motion for Dale Clark to talk with John Palma to come to the Tech Session and do a program for the members, along with a proposal of the cost to the BOD. Tim Myrick gave a second, and the motion passed unanimously. Sneed Adams discussed a Labor Day tour and will come up with a proposal for the BOD. Inter-Regional Meet: A discussion was held to propose this to National that it be held in Austin in 2011 and to merge it with our annual Spring Meet. The Texas Region members would serve as host. Sneed Adams made a motion that the Texas Region RROC BOD in lieu of support of the 2011 Interregional Meet being in Austin, have our Spring Meet during this event. Cathie Mouton gave a second, and the motion passed unanimously. Spring Meet 2012: Sneed Adams made a motion to have the 2012 Spring Meet in Abilene, Texas. Eddy Bridges gave a second, and the motion was passed unanimously. June 2013 National Meet: A discussion was held regarding making a bid to National for the 2013 National meet to be held in San Antonio. Al Briseno agreed to head the committee and serve as host for the event if San Antonio is chosen. Sneed Adams made a motion for the BOD to give a vote of confidence and support to Al and our assistance in this endeavor. Eddy Bridges gave a second, and the motion passed unanimously. Sneed and the entire BOD commended Al Briseno for taking on hosting a National Meet. Adjournment: With no other business to discuss, a motion was made by Dale Clark, and seconded by Tim Myrick to adjourn the meeting at 10:36 AM CDT. Motion passed unanimously. y Sneed & Anne Adams The Texas Region Spring Meet Committee and Mother Nature held extensive negotiations leading up to the weekend of March 26 & 27. Mom insisted that winter was not over, it was still March and by golly the Friday agenda demanded thunderstorms with occasional sleet and zero visibility until 1 PM. The Saturday program was a clear violation of March’s integrity and the best that Mom could offer was a continuous drizzle and 48F. The Region held steadfast to its position that even though this was March the Region had given up April in good faith to National to hold the Natchez Trace Spring Tour. This exceptional good deed to support and highlight the bounty of Mom’s beautiful Natchez Trace was worth 1000 bright yellow Texas Dandelion Points and thus Texas was entitled to benevolent consideration.
