Welcome to the annual Spring Meet and Directory edition of the Lone Star Lady. This is the Lone Star Lady you will want to keep all year long. Thank you Lone Star Lady Editor, Steve Krazer, for putting together another great edition. Thank you to all the members who contributed to this edition. How are you doing on your 2010 goal of getting your Rolls-Royce/Bentley safe and ready for the road? I hope you are already on the road and enjoying every minute. Did you make it to Spring Meet in College Station? There were abundant wildflowers everywhere. Beautiful, scenic back roads to explore and delicious food, including Blue Bell Ice Cream! One failure to proceed (FTP) on the way to the meet, one FTP during the meet and one accident involving a Rolls-Royce. Thank you Sneed and Anne Adams and Eddy and Cheri Bridges for all the work you did to make this Spring Meet a relaxed, enjoyable event from start to finish. I was fortunate to be able to attend the 33rd National Inter-Regional Meet in Orlando, Florida in February, along with other Texas Region members. A few Texas Region members had discussed the desire 4 The Lone Star Lady • March–June 2010 and possibility of hosting the National Inter-Regional in San Antonio TX in early 2011. We put together an event outline and Texas Region Board member/National Board member Sneed Adams presented the idea to the National Activities Committee. Sneed also presented the idea of holding the National Annual Meet in San Antonio in 2013. The Activities Committee liked the idea of the Inter-Regional being in Texas, but thought that hosting both the Inter- Regional and a National Annual Meet in the same city within two years of each other would decrease attendance (been there, done that). So, Sneed, thinking on his feet, suggested Austin TX as the site for the National Inter-Regional in 2011, leaving the National Annual Meet in San Antonio TX for 2013. The Activities Committee agreed with the change and approved the Inter- Regional for Austin TX for 2011, and will vote on holding the 2013 National Annual Meet in San Antonio TX during the 2010 National Annual Meet in Toronto this summer. Your Texas Region Chairman, Phillip Reese, is the Chairman of the 2011 National Inter-Regional, which will be hosted in Austin TX from Wednesday, March 23 to Sunday, March 27, 2011. Please mark your calendars and plan to attend. We will need Texas Region members from all over Texas to volunteer for a wide variety of tasks before and during the event. Also, because of the National Inter- Regional being hosted in Texas next year, the Texas Region will not hold the annual Spring Meet. Instead, the National Inter- Regional will be our “Spring Meet on Steroids!” Do not forget to attend your local monthly Texas Region breakfasts. They are a good way for members to stay connected to each other and to be informed about our cars and what is happening in your area. The Dallas/Fort Worth area breakfast is on the second Saturday of every month. The Houston area breakfast is on the second Saturday of the month. The Hill Country area (Austin/San Antonio) breakfast is on the third Saturday of the month. Please see the Lone Star Lady for up to date location information. The National Annual Meet is right around the corner. Held in Toronto, Ontario, Canada from July 19 to July 24. Please make plans to attend. The next statewide Texas Region event will be the Fall Tech Seminar, Friday, November 5 to Sunday, November 7, 2010, in Austin TX. Please mark your calendars. This year’s Fall Tech Seminar is going to be different in terms of seminar leaders and possibly content. Texas Region Technical Chairman Dale Clark is working on selecting two seminar leaders who have not been to the Texas Region in a while to be our expert mechanics. I will keep you posted as plans progress. The host hotel (Homewood Suites) and the host garage (Bentley Austin) will be the same as last year. Thank you to all Texas Region members who volunteer their time and talent to keep our club interesting and running smoothly. Drive your Rolls-Royce and/or Bentley. See you soon. This is just north of Arapaho one block east of the Tollway. Knoll Trail is the same road as Monfort south of Arapaho. Houston Area Activities: Houston Monthly Breakfast– Every 2nd Saturday - 9:00 am. Location: Skeeters at 5529 Weslayan, Houston, TX Hill Country Activities: Hill Country Monthly Breakfast– Every 3rd Saturday - 9:00am. Location: Friesenhaus Restaurant, 148 S. Castell St. in New Braunfels. Statewide & National Activities: • July 19-24, 2010– 59th Annual RROC National Meet in Toronto, Ontario, Canada.  Meet  Contact: Susan & Henry Popp, Co-Chairs. The Meet Hotel will be the Markham Suites. Judging Day will be held at the beautiful  Milne Dam Conservation Park in the town of Markham.   October 16, 2010, 9AM to 3PM, All British Car Show LaCenterra Shopping Center- Katy, TX  Contact Sneed Adams at stadams64@aol.com for details November 5-7, 2010 Texas Region Technical Seminar, Austin, Texas. March 23 - 26, 2011– RROC National Inter-Regional Meet Austin, Texas - Details to follow August 12-19, 2011– RROC 60th Annual National Meet Squaw Creek North Lake Tahoe, CA. Contact: Helen Heath & Barbara Kilburn, Co-Chairs. The proposed Meet Hotel is the Resort at Squaw Valley in Olympic City, CA.  A golf course adjoins the Hotel and provides an area well-suited for judging day.
