LSU Health Sciences Center at Shreveport School of Medicine 91 Surgery and Anesthesiology (8 Weeks) Neurosciences (8 Weeks) OB / GYN and Women’s Health (8 Weeks) Medicine and Pediatrics (16 Weeks) Surgery Subspecialties (4 Weeks) THIRD YEAR CURRICULUM • Family Medicine Comprehensive Care Clinic 1/2 day per week on all rotations • Surgery Subspecialties include one week on Otolaryngology, Ophthalmology, Urology, and Orthopaedic Surgery • One vacation block of 4 weeks is included during the third year FOURTH YEAR CURRICULUM 16 Weeks of Selectives (each selective is 4 weeks) All Selectives, including the Advanced Diagnostic Skills course, an Inpatient Acting Internship, an Outpatient Clinical Selective and a Community Outpatient Clinical Selective, are completed at the School of Medicine in Shreveport. 20 Weeks of Electives (each elective is either 2 or 4 weeks) • Family Medicine Comprehensive Care Clinic • Two vacation blocks of 4 weeks each are included in the fourth year • Three Day Course in Clinical Toxicology The curriculum is reviewed annually by the Medical Curriculum Council and is subject to change.
