Williamsburg Shrine Club Official Visit February 1, 2012
President WSC Tom West and Potentate Joe Register
by tom e. lasher
T
he Williamsburg Shrine Club would like to
congratulate Illustrious Joe Register on his election
to Potentate, to Noble Elwood Paschal on being
elected Oriental Guide and to all of the members of the
Divan on their advancements. What a great group of
officers our Temple has, and what a bright future.
The Club has had a busy and profitable fourth
quarter, beginning in October with a fundraiser Spaghetti
Dinner, held as always, at the Capitol Pancake House,
here in Williamsburg. The turnout was remarkable.
Nobody went away hungry, the working Nobles had fun,
and best of all we made money for our Temple and THE
KIDS.
Mr. Eric Endries, the Regional Director for the Virginia
Wounded Warrior Program, Greater Hampton Rhodes
area, presented our November program. Mr. Endries
spoke of the responsibilities that the Organization has
here of ensuring timely assessment, treatment and
support services for Virginia Veterans, Virginia residents
in the Armed Forces Reserves/ VA National Guard (not on
active duty) and their family members recovering from
the affects of stress-related injuries or traumatic brain
injuries. It was most interesting and well received by the
Nobles.
In December we had our annual Ladies Night
and Christmas Party. This year it was held at Colonial
Heritage, located just west of Williamsburg. Musical
entertainment was provided by the singing duo “Joe and
Me”, who were most enjoyable and entertaining.
At the conclusion of the evening, then Chief Rabban,
Joe Register, installed our 2012 Club officers, which made
for a fitting conclusion to a great evening.
The program for the Club’s January meeting was
presented by Worshipful M. Kent Brinkley who gave a
thorough history of Williamsburg Lodge No. 6. We all
learned much about its fascinating history.
Finally, a huge THANKS to Illustrious Don Meyer
and the 2011 Divan for a great year, and all of the support
they gave the Williamsburg Shrine Club. The Club
accomplished so much this past year, and without your
support, it would not have been possible. And what a joy
it was to have the Divan and their families at our various
functions throughout the year. Again thanks to Illustrious
Don and Lady Betty, as well as all of the other Divan
members and their families.
As always, we hope you will take the opportunity to
come over and see us. We meet on the first Wednesday of
each month at the Holiday Inn on Bypass Road (US 60)
in Williamsburg. The social hour begins at 6:00PM with
dinner at 7:00PM. Come enjoy the fun, fellowship and
food.
Directions to the Holiday Inn are easy. Take I-64 to
Williamsburg. And when you get here, take the “Camp
Perry” exit . Turn onto Rt 143 EAST. Pass through the
first stop light, then turn right at the next stoplight, and
then turn right again at the next stoplight. That is Bypass
Rd., or US Rt 60. The hotel is located at the top of the hill,
on the right, next to the Ramada Inn 1776. Please call
Noble Dick Jones ((757-566-0506) by the Friday before
the meeting to make a dinner reservation.
