Research Unit The architectural design of the ASK LOM-AT toolkit is based on a multi-tier database model and on the use of Memory Based XML Native Repositories that conform to the IMS Digital Repositories Interoperability–Core Functions Information Model specification. It uses the Simple Object Access Protocol (SOAP) and the educational metadata produced conform to the IEEE Learning Object Metadata 1484.12.1-2002 Standard. ASK LOM-AT guides metadata authors throughout a simple step-to-step process of metadata authoring, through the Learning Object Metadata Authoring Wizard following IEEE LOM and also allows importing existing metadata descriptions of learning objects in your learning objects metadata repository. Finally, ASK LOM-AT provides numerous useful functionalities to the metadata repository manager, such as repository contents’ search, statistics, and exporting, as well as, publishing to a web application. ASK Learning Designer Toolkit (ASK-LDT) ASK LDT facilitates authoring of learning activities following the IMS Learning Design. ASK-LDT supports pedagogical designers in the definition of their own notation, providing the flexibility to define their preferred activity types, as well as, their favourite design notation. It also supports the design process allowing the design of activity sequences, as well as, the definition of the participating roles and the corresponding environments. The architectural design of the ASK-LDT is based on a multi-tier database model. The produced learning scenarios conform to the IMS Learning Design v1.0 Level B specification. The Learning Designer Toolkit supports metadata for learning resources that conform to the IEEE Learning Object Metadata 1484.12.1.-2002 standard and the output packages conform to the IMS Content Packaging v1.1.3 specification. ASK-SCORM-Toolkit ASK-SCORM-Toolkit is a Learning Management System conformant with the state-of-the-art Learning Technology specifications, such as the IMS and SCORM. The ASK-SCORM-Toolkit is a scalable and extendable environment, based on an open architecture and the use of open source technologies. ASK-SCORM-Toolkit conforms with the SCORM v1.2 and AICC specification, as well as with the IMS Question and Test Interoperability (IMS QTI) specification and the IEEE Learning Object Metadata 1484.12.1.1-2002 standard.
