<strong>Metro</strong>’s community investment and sponsorship<br />

involves the provision of financial and in kind support.<br />

<strong>Metro</strong>’s services<br />

to and from<br />

major events<br />

have proven to<br />

be a popular,<br />

convenient and<br />

cost-effective<br />

transport choice.<br />

As the State’s largest<br />

passenger transport provider,<br />

<strong>Metro</strong>’s core purpose is to<br />

provide passenger transport<br />

services. <strong>Metro</strong> also recognises<br />

its role in the community<br />

connecting <strong>Tasmania</strong>ns to their<br />

employment, study, leisure and<br />

community activities.<br />

<strong>Metro</strong> also seeks to support<br />

and engage with the community<br />

through investment and<br />

sponsorships.<br />

Community investment and<br />

sponsorship is undertaken<br />

in accordance with <strong>Metro</strong>’s<br />

sponsorship guidelines with<br />

a view to raise the profile of<br />

<strong>Metro</strong> and to encourage the<br />

use of passenger transport.<br />

Community investment and<br />

sponsorship involves the<br />

provision of financial and in kind<br />

support. <strong>Metro</strong> provides its bus<br />

services to assist community<br />

transport needs. Bus advertising<br />

space is provided in kind to<br />

assist community and not-forprofit<br />

organisations in reaching<br />

the community with their<br />

message. <strong>Metro</strong> encourages<br />

support for employees and<br />

engagement of employees in<br />

fundraising activities.<br />

<strong>Metro</strong> provides free travel on<br />

ANZAC Day to members of<br />

the Australian Defence Forces<br />

provided they are in uniform.<br />

Veterans and War Widows<br />

are also entitled to free travel<br />

provided they wear a uniform,<br />

service medals or war widows’<br />

or ex-service association badges<br />

or present a DVA card.<br />

<strong>Metro</strong> partnered with Cricket<br />

<strong>Tasmania</strong> to deliver Boundary<br />

Rider services to and from major<br />

cricket matches at Blundstone<br />

Arena at Bellerive. <strong>Metro</strong>’s<br />

services to and from these<br />

major events have proven to<br />

be a popular, convenient and<br />

cost effective transport choice.<br />

The success of these services<br />

resulted in a further partnership<br />

with North Melbourne Football<br />

Club to provide services for<br />

North Melbourne AFL matches<br />

at Blundstone Arena at Bellerive.<br />
