Condors
Captains: Jonathan Hester, Rhett
Nichols, Whit Clark
The Santa Barbara Condors Ultimate frisbee team first took the field
in 1974. They didn’t know they were the Condors yet, but with the
leadership of Tom Kennedy (TK) by 1976 they were playing games against
opponents. And in 1977 they became the first National Champions in the
sport. Then they repeated as #1 in 1978 and again in 1981. The Santa
Barbara Condors are the longest running club team with the same name
and background in the world... and their dedication and quality of play
continues to this day. The 1998 and 1999 teams were 2nd in the nation
(the 1999 team was 3rd in the world). In 2000 and 2001 the Condors
were National Champions. The Condors became Club World Champions
in 2002. The 2003 team was 2nd in North America, and in 2004 the
Condors represented the US at the World Championships and won the
silver medal.
Doublewide
Captains: Sean McCall, Max Cook,
Scott Berens
Based in Austin, TX, Doublewide will be attending its 5th UPA Nationals
since forming in 2001. Following a disappointing 2006 club season finish
and a quarterfinal loss in 2006 WFDF Worlds in Perth, Doublewide heads
into 2007 UPA Nationals with a 21-4 record.
Watch for O team players David “Salad” Melancon and Stephen
“Franchise” Presley to shred the field with precision and ease while
defensive stalwarts Michael “Tank” Natenberg and Benjamin “Verbal”
Sims dominate key matchups. Also in the mix the 6’4” rookie Jason
“Soda” Millard and the human trashcan Jay “Jamba” Lane.
Doublewide would like to thank all its friends, fans and sponsors for their
support. Keep it well nasty, hoop!
