“High Performance Concrete for Durability Compliance : Do we have the Solutions?"
The paper will touch on the subject of high performance concrete as applied to real life projects in Malaysia and elsewhere
which the Author has had personel experience with. The notion that high strength is necessarily high performance will be
debunked. The question ‘do we have the solutions’ will be discussed and how this is achieved via performance testing for
different macro and micro environments. A rational approach to specifying concrete to achieve high performance will be
discussed. The outline of the presentation is therefore as follows:

The paper will touch on the 3Ws and 1H on Ecolabel. What is Ecolabel? Why Ecolabel? Which Ecolabel? How to Ecolabel?
“Mascrete LH & Mascrete Pro”
Mascrete LH and Mascrete Pro cement, are Portland Fly Ash Cement. comply to MS 522:2007
(MS1227:1991), CEM II B/V and CEM II A/V respectively. Properties of Mascrete LH and Mascrete Pro, and the applications
will be presented.
Mascrete cement project references include KLCC Project, KL Tower, KLIA and North Butterworth Container Terminal
(NBCT). Benefits include Chloride resistance, Sulphate resistance and Temperature control. The paper will also touch on
the Green building products (Cement) certification and Green buildings assessment tools.

SPEAKERS’ PROFILE
Ir Dr Kribanandan Gurusamy Naidu
The Author has over twenty years experience in consultancy and currently MD for JTK Consult a leading Consultant
involved in Concrete Technology, Technical Risk Mitigation, Structural Investigations/Remedial Engineering, Adaptive reuse
of conservation buildings, Sustainability Design and Dispute Resolution. Prior to setting up JTK, he was Director of
Taywood Engineering in Malaysia & Singapore spanning a 9 year period, where he was at the forefront of the use of
innovative technologies in construction and the development of a Facilities Management Business. He is a member of the
institution of Civil Engineers UK and a member of the institution of Engineers Malaysia. His experience extends to projects
in the UK, Middle East
Dr Chen Sau Soon
With over 25 years at SIRIM, Dr. Chen is the current Senior General Manager of the Environment and Bioprocess
Technology Centre. She has also served as chairman/member for a number of technical committees under the Ministry of
Science, Technology and Innovation as well as Ministry of Natural Resources.
Dr. Chen has published more than 80 papers related to chemical, environmental and energy issues.
Ms Wong Ai Ming
Prior to joining Lafarge Malayan Cement in 1994, Ms. Wong was a Senior Lecturer at Tunku Abdul Rahman College. She is
currently the Technical Manager responsible for providing technical support to customers and promoting Lafarge’s
blended cement products to Specifiers, Contractors and Developers.
Ms. Wong has presented on the usage of blended cement in Malbex and World Congress 2008 in Singapore, as well as to
Jabatan Kerja Raya and Consultants. She is also a task force member of the Singapore Green Building Council.
