“High Performance Concrete for Durability Compliance : Do we have the Solutions?"
The paper will touch on the subject of high performance concrete as applied to real life projects in Malaysia and elsewhere
which the Author has had personel experience with. The notion that high strength is necessarily high performance will be
debunked. The question ‘do we have the solutions’ will be discussed and how this is achieved via performance testing for
different macro and micro environments. A rational approach to specifying concrete to achieve high performance will be
discussed. The outline of the presentation is therefore as follows:
1) Definition of High Performance Concrete
2) Does High Strength mean High performance
3) Project Experiece in Malaysia
a. Petronas Towers
b. Menara Telekom
c. Smart Tunnel Project
d. Penang Second Bridge
e. Sitra Bridge, Bahrain
f. Others
4) Do we have the Solutions
5) Performance Testing and Compliance
6) A rational Approach to specifying High Performace Concrete
7) Concluding Remarks
“Ecolabel – A Marketing Instrument to Communicate Improved
The paper will touch on the 3Ws and 1H on Ecolabel. What is Ecolabel? Why Ecolabel? Which Ecolabel? How to Ecolabel?
