SYNOPSIS
Due to factual data that noise causes hearing problem to factory workers, there are possibility that the noise source
are radiated from the machines or equipment. With reference to Factory and Machinery Act, Noise Regulation, 1967,
there are legal implication on a breach of the law is a serious matter.
Noise problem in factory, is presented in this talk. The solutions derived from actual noise measurement (noise
mapping and audiometric test) to mitigate from an occurrence. Solutions are available in the industry. Prevent it by
looking into it.
TOPICS
Noise will definitely damage our ears if it is exposed to loud noises. Due to low frequency noise in factory (500,
1000, 1500, 2000 Hz) the pressure cause ears not able to hear properly at prolong duration. Based on factual
findings, patterns are able to resolve matters. In this case it is a foldable pattern of similar trend. To prevent this is to
look in it.
Equations derived will resolve the matter. In order to prevent from occurring, monitoring is required. This is required
to avoid noise impairment.

BIODATA OF SPEAKER
Ir. Gan Chun Chet is an Honors Student in Mechanical Engineering graduate from the University of Manchester,
Manchester, United Kingdom in 1996. He has a Master of Science in Operations Management awarded by
University of Manchester Institute of Science and Technology (UMIST), United Kingdom graduated in the
subsequent year. He started his career with the General Industry, and later moved to the Oil and Gas Industry where
he presently has 10 years in total of working experience.
He has worked in General Production Facilities as well as Engineering Design in the Oil and Gas Industry. In the
general industry, he worked together with a group of engineering team to resolve real plant issues encountered.
Some of which are noise problems, compressor and pumps vibration problems, etc. Solutions to these problems are
available in the industry. Monitoring progress and actions are vital to success of the situation. Prevention concepts
need to be heard in the industry.
In the oil and gas industry, he managed to work with a lot of experienced engineers in the field where the thoughts of
predicting failures arises to avoid failures. Industrial solutions are available to mitigate failures. Practices such as
redundancy, field voting, review check activities, are currently practiced to overcome.
He is currently practicing as an Instrument Engineer serving the Oil and Gas Industry.
