BAITUL-IKRAM GAZETTE ISSUE1 JANUARY2011 EDITORIAL Message from QAID MKA LEICESTER Respected Brothers Khuddam and Atfal, Assalamu Alaikum All praise belongs to Allah Almighty for making this newsletter a reality. Jazakallah to Nazim Isha‟at Orhan Ahmed Sahib and his team for their extraordinary efforts. It is my ultimate dream that, Insha‟Allah this newsletter (BAITUL-IKRAM Gazette), named after our mosque, will go a long way to be an effective mode of communication to unite and improve the efforts of MKA Leicester. Moreover, as the first local Ijtema under the new Majlis-e-Amila approaches, I would like to use this opportunity to shed light on this blessed event. The founder of Majlis Khuddamul Ahmadiyya Hadhrat Musleh Maud (ra) had stated that, “the aim of any auxiliary organisation within the Jama‟at is to create the fear of Allah in their members”. Hadhrat Musleh Maud(ra) went on to say that, Ijtemas serve the purpose of increasing knowledge and also the spiritual and physical conditions of Khuddam. Thus, the purpose of sports competitions is to make Khuddam physically stronger so that they can serve their religion better. Therefore it is incumbent upon every Khadim and Tifl to attend the Ijtema and to take part in the events. Whilst we get together to improve brotherhood, we must also realise that it is only through the fear of Allah, dedication and discipline that could prepare us to be the leaders of tomorrow in whatever capacity, being it worldly or spiritual. We must therefore use the spirit of the Ijtema to establish change in ourselves as a demonstration of our claim to be followers of the Reformer of the age, Hadhrat Masih Maud (as). The theme for this year‟s Ijtema is „Sacrifice‟. This carries a huge significance as it reminds us of our solemn pledge to sacrifice our time, wealth and honour for the sake of our Religion. So this is the time to take a stock of our lives and ask ourselves if we are really living our lives according to the Pledge. We should ask ourselves, how many times we make efforts to offer our 5 daily prayers, attend Jama‟at events and when was the last time, perhaps, we paid Khuddam Chanda? If we are failing, then the time for change is now, as tomorrow belongs to those who start preparation today. Insha‟Allah, I look forward to meeting all members of the Leicester Majlis Khuddamul Ahmadiyya and Atfal at this year‟s local Ijtema, and it is my humble prayers that we use the Ijtema as an avenue to foster the spirit of true Brotherhood and as true servants of the Holy Prophet (saw). BAITUL-IKRAM GAZETTE ISSUE1 JANUARY2011 News of the Month PositiveKhuddamSleepover ALHAMDULILLAH, the Leicester Khuddam Sleepover Class organised on 25 th December 2010 night at Baitul Ikram yielded positive results. The event was also opened to Atfal from the age of 12 and above. The objectives of the event, according to Qaid Leicester Ibrahim Bonsu, were to improve brotherhood and also for Ta‟leem, Tabligh and Tarbiyyat purposes. Special attention was on Hadhrat Isa(as) as Christmas was being celebrated by Christians. The Sleepover also gave opportunity for Khuddam to perform Tahajjud prayers. Performing Tahajjud prayers serve as a potent means of subduing oneself and gaining self control over human weaknesses. This would therefore help to improve the observance of the five daily prayers amongst the youth. The event started at 20.30hrs (after the Ishaa Salaat) with recitation of the Holy Qu‟ran by Afaq Baig Sahib. Hadith by Munam Khadim Sahib and sayings of the Promised Messiah (as) by Orhan Ahmed Sahib. The programme was then introduced by Qaid Sahib-Ibrahim Bonsu followed by advice from Murabbi Maulana Ghulam Ahmed Khadim Sahib. From 20.40hrs to 21.30hrs participants enjoyed table tennis and food was also served. Qu‟ran class by Murabbi Sahib resumed afterwards, followed by a session on Etiquettes of a Khadim and the Mosque by Qaid Sahib. The Ta‟leem and Tabligh session which was coordinated by Jama‟at‟s secretary for Ta‟leem & Tarbiyyat- Saleem Ahmed Sahib also began at 22.15hrs. In this session, three short videos were relayed and they comprised of: 1.Mullahs verdict on Apostasy; 2. Similarities between the rejection of the respective Messiahs by the Jews and non-Ahmadi Muslims and; 3. Jesus (as) in Kashmir, a Channel 4 Documentary. Discussions were held at the end of each video and Saleem Ahmed Sahib also provided further comments to the satisfaction of the audience. Alhamdulillah, the night programme ended at 23.15hrs and there were 32 participants: 19 Khuddam, 5 Atfal and 8 Ansar. Preparation for the sleepover then followed. 8 Khuddam and 1 Tifl slept at the mosque and woke up at 05.30hrs (26 th December) in preparation for Tahajjud prayers. They were joined by others making up a total of 13 people (11 Khuddam and 2 Ansar) during Tahajjud which started at 05.45hrs and led by Murabbi Sahib. Darsul Qu‟ran and Qu‟ranic reading by participants followed after Fajr Prayers. At 07.30hrs, warm up exercise led by Qaid Sahib- Ibrahim Bonsu was conducted and this was followed by breakfast. The class finally came to an end at 09.30hrs after a mosque cleaning (Waqar-e-Amal ) session. Insha‟Allah we hope to continue with a monthly congregational Tahajjud prayer, on the first Sunday of each month and sleepover classes at regular intervals as convenient. Jazakallah Ibrahim Bonsu.
