area in partnership with other agencies

Expo held 9 September with
approximately 500 people attending.

deliver another Employment Expo in

Increase access to healthy
and nutritious food
Deliver a Food 4 Life co-operative in
partnership with the Salvation Army
in the 2168 area to address the issue
of food insecurity, similar to the one
that has been set up in Warwick Farm
(Community Services)
Project continuing. Continued
support provided to the Salvation Army
who are the delivery agency towards
provision of the Food 4 Life cooperative
in the 2168 area. The co-op is likely to
be launched in late 2011, subject to DA
approval.
Enhance the physical amenity of
Liverpool’s public and open spaces
Deliver community art projects in 2168
area via Living Streets, including the
John Dwyer Bridge and Family and
Children’s Puppet Theatre (Community
Services)
Project continuing. Due to
unanticipated delays caused by concerns
about project design, the funding body
has given approval to carry these projects
over to 2011-12.
Commence Brown’s Farm Reserve
Hoxton Park and Peter Miller Reserve
Preston’s community parks (Buildings
and Open Space)
Project continuing. Brownes
Farm: following decision to reject tenders
and enter into direct negotiations with
contractor, negotiation now completed and
being reported to July meeting of Council.
Peter Miller Reserve: work commenced
with completion anticipated in late 2011.
Improve community sense of safety in
public spaces relating to alcohol, drugs,
graffiti and group violence
Undertake community safety audits
in conjunction with local police and
program the implementation of the
recommendations contained in the audits
(Community Services)
Project complete. Liverpool CBD
safety audit report has been completed by
the Liverpool Local Area Command and will be
submitted to Council during the first quarter of
2011-12.
Undertake a community education
awareness campaign to minimise the
number of thefts from motor vehicles
(Community Services)
Project complete. Liverpool Safety
Expo held on 19 May 2011. Educational
materials relating to the prevention of stealing
from motor vehicles and motor vehicle theft
were promoted at the event.
Develop new projects under the Interim
Graffiti Management Strategy/Policy 2009-
2011 (Community Services)
Project complete. As part of the
registration system for the Casula Powerhouse
Art Walls, a group booking system has been
developed to better manage school class and
youth groups who utilise the facility under the
guidance of a responsible adult.
Work commenced on developing
a memorandum of understanding with the
department of Juvenile Justice regarding
the placement of under 18 year old graffiti
offenders with Council’s graffiti removal team.
The changes to graffiti laws
contained in the Graffiti Control Amendment
Regulation 2010 have been examined. They
will not impact Council since they relate
solely to the power of the courts in recovering
the full cost of fines associated with graffiti
offences through orders of graffiti clean up
work.
