loudspeaker complement. The only
fill speakers in the system, they sit
on top of the subwoofers, covering
only the very far left and right edges
of the seating area. The arrays are
all-purpose, whether the pastor is
speaking, music is being played on
CDs, the choir is singing or instruments
are being played. There is no
“division” in the system and there
are no specially purposed speakers.
In the highly competitive professional
audio environment, there are
always tough technological choices
to be made. So, why was Nexo the
best choice for this application?
According to Henderson, weight was
a leading factor. “We had a limited
structural load capacity that the roof
could support,” he explained. “So,
we had to do something that could
achieve reasonably high SPLs but
that, at the same time, was very
light. That’s what led us to the Nexo
S12 system.” The arrays enabled the
church to get clear, intelligible
sound while still meeting the structural
goals for overhead support.

the actual tuning of the system, we
had smooth and even coverage for
the main seating area as well as the
balcony,” he noted.

church’s original design is the front
of house mix position. A sound
booth had been constructed behind
glass at the back of the balcony.
