SPORT Our college has a great history of sporting success and continues to strive for highest levels of excellence for all of our pupils. Our model is ‘sport for all’ but we have capacity to develop students to the elite level. The College offers a wide range of opportunities to participate in sports activity before, during and after college. The fantastic facilities and team of experienced teachers, coaches and support staff at Ernest Bevin enables all pupils to participate in a wide range of activities. We believe that ‘healthy bodies make healthy minds’ and our work across the college has been shown to contribute to improving academic results. The college has four focus sports of Judo, Table Tennis, Volleyball and Rugby. Our link with the charity Greenhouse provides some of the best programmes for Judo, Table Tennis and Volleyball anywhere in the UK. Our link with Harlequins enables all boys to play rugby when they first enter the college and has produced two very talented rugby squads. Two years ago the college opened a football academy in conjunction with Tooting & Mitcham FC. These partnerships will produce future top level performers with a solid academic background. As well as developing performers from school to international level, we offer pathways for pupils to become coaches, officials and leaders. Our achievements have been recognised by Sport England ‘Sportsmark Gold’ award and the college achieving High Performing Specialist School status. We also work with partner schools, to help raise standards. Physical Education Choice All boys in Years 7 to 11 experience a well balanced programme including gymnastics, swimming, basketball, volleyball, health-related fitness, cricket, athletics, football, hockey and rugby. All boys in KS4 will be entered for an externally awarded qualification, either BTEC Sports, GCSE PE or Certificate of Achievement in PE.
