We warmly welcome you to Ernest Bevin College at
an exciting time in our development. Our college
has a vibrant atmosphere and a strong ethos of
success; it has high expectations and a culture of
achievement. Students are expected to identify
proudly with Ernest Bevin College and to want
success for themselves, for their families and for
the college.
Committed and professional members of staff
ensure that every student is challenged to achieve
their very best and take advantage of the many
opportunities on offer here. As a result the college
has a strong reputation for achievement earned by
committed adults and young people working
together in an ambitious environment.
Our students have gained impressive examination
results and we expect these results to continue to
improve. 68% gained 5 or more GCSE grades A*-C
including English and Maths in 2011. In addition
our sixth formers achieved our best ‘A’ level results
and many are now off to universities to study a
wide range of subjects. An analysis of our pupils’
achievements is printed on page 4 of this
prospectus.
Ernest Bevin College has been a specialist college
for Sport since 2000 and healthy living underpins
the philosophy of the college. We have outstanding
sports facilities and excellent coaching staff to
encourage all boys to find a sport they enjoy. These
facilities include a new swimming pool, large
sports hall, a fitness suite and a dojo and will be
used as an Olympic training venue. They are used
extensively by our local community and we work in
partnership with sporting organisations such as
Harlequins, Tooting & Mitcham FC and Greenhouse
to maximise the opportunities available. This
enables us to develop our young sportsmen to an
elite level who are able to represent Ernest Bevin at
local, regional and national events.
The forthcoming years at the college will be
