AUTOMATIC RECEIPT OF
HIGH HOLIDAY TICKETS
Your account must be current to receive your High Holiday
tickets by mail in advance of the holiday.
1. Included in this mailing are tickets for your children, ages
5 to 24. Tickets are not required for children under the age
of 5.
2. Members in good standing may purchase tickets for children
25 and over at $50 each, for other relatives at $125
each, and for non-family guests at $360 each.
Please call the HERJC office immediately with your ticket
orders.
RECIPROCAL GUEST TICKETS
Family members who belong to other United Synagogue
for Conservative Judaism congregations may request courtesy
tickets at our synagogue by having their home congregation
mail or fax a High Holiday Day Courtesy Request on
Synagogue letterhead to the HERJC office. Our fax number is
516 599-2851.
CHILDREN’S SERVICES
Our Religious School students are invited to Services in the
School Building. There are also special classrooms for chil -
dren ages 2–4 which are supervised by Nursery School teachers.
Children are admitted to regular Services only if accompanied
by their parents.
THE HERJC NEILAH
TRADITION
The last Service of Yom Kippur is
called Neila, the “Service of the Clos -
ing of the Gates.” As twilight fell on
Biblical Jerusalem, the gates of the
Temple were closed. Neila signals the
end of the period of repentance and
we are reminded to enter the Gates of
Repentance before it is too late. Con -
gre gants are invited to come up on
the Bima while the Ark is open, for a
short, personal prayer. The service
ends with one mighty blast of the
Shofar. Bring your Shofar and join us.
HAVE SHOFAR, WILL TRAVEL
Anyone who is ill and cannot attend High Holy Day Services
is encouraged to call the office, 599-2634, so that we can
arrange for one of our Shofar Blowers to come to your home
after Services.
SPECIAL SEATING REQUESTS
Anyone requiring special seating or parking because of
physical limitations should notify the office at 599-2634
immediately.
SYNAGOGUE DECORUM
Smoking is not permitted anywhere on HERJC property.
Please do not bring electronic devices of any kind into
Services.
USHERING
Our High Holiday Services are a time of both spiritual
awareness and daunting logistical challenges. Our ushers
have the important role of helping to create a welcoming
atmosphere while insuring the security and decorum of
services for nearly 2,000 people and we treat them with the
utmost respect. If you would like to aid in this important
task, please call 599-2634.
SECURITY
The safety of our Congregation is our first concern. Please
be sure to keep your ticket with you at all times. Your ticket
will be checked any time you enter the building.
If you do not have your ticket with you,
you will need to show photo ID to be admitted;
we will match your identification against
our membership and ticket lists. We also ask
that you keep your tickets with you to reenter
the building when bringing children to
Children’s Services.
PARKING—
BE GOOD NEIGHBORS
We close the HERJC parking lot during the
High Holy Days to maintain the dignity of
our worship. If you park on the side streets,
please be considerate and do not disturb our
neighbors. We thank you in advance for your
cooperation.
