About the Professional Conversion Programme for Adult Educators
This is a 3 or 4 month programme (depending on qualifications) for professionals, managers,
executives and technicians (PMETs) with industry skills and experience. It equips them with
new knowledge and skills in adult education to help them transform their careers to become a
professional adult educator and a WSQ trainer.
Candidates will attain the full Advanced Certificate in Training and Assessment (ACTA)
qualification at the Institute for Adult Learning while concurrently experiencing on-the-job
training at a relevant training organization.
Role of Partner Organizations
The role of the partner organization would be to provide relevant candidates with the on-the-job
training component of the Professional Conversion Programme (PCP).
As the formal training is based on the curriculum of the Advanced Certificate in Training and
Assessment (ACTA), the baseline activities designed for the work attachment will be relevant
work activities supporting the hands-on application of the knowledge and skills the PCP
participant learned after each ACTA module.
Each PCP candidate should be assigned a training supervisor whose key role would be to
facilitate and supervise him / her to learn as much as possible in training management and
development during the period of the work attachment. In this sense, the PCP participant will
report to you during this period and you will be his/her reporting officer. IAL will also assign a
training coordinator to work with you to monitor the progress of the PCP candidate.
Upon completion of the 3 or 4 month on-the-job training, the candidate will be available to work
with the partner organization for a period equal to the on-the-job training (3 or 4 months).
