JOINT STATEMENT ON THE MUTUAL RECOGNITION OF CREDENTIALSBETWEENSINGAPORE WORKFORCE DEVELOPMENT AGENCY’S (WDA)WSQ DIPLOMA IN ADULT AND CONTINUING EDUCATION (DACE)ANDINSTITUTE OF TECHNICAL EDUCATION’S (ITE)PEDAGOGICAL CERTIFICATE IN TECHNICAL EDUCATION (PCTE)WSQ Diploma in <strong>Adult</strong> and Continuing Education (DACE)The WSQ Diploma in <strong>Adult</strong> and Continuing Education is a qualification offered withinthe Training and <strong>Adult</strong> Education Framework of the <strong>Singapore</strong> Work<strong>for</strong>ce SkillsQualifications System (TAE WSQ) which is designed to equip new and existing adulteducators with skills to be facilitators, assessors, curriculum developers within thetraining and adult education environment.Learners are required to successfully complete eight compulsory modules, anintegrated practicum, the minimum of two electives and a capstone project, totallinga minimum of 30 credits in order to be awarded the DACE qualification. Thecompetency units making up the DACE qualification are listed in Appendix I.ITE’s Pedagogical Certificate in Technical Education (PCTE)The Pedagogical Certificate in Technical Education is the <strong>Institute</strong> of TechnicalEducation’s in-house lecturer preparatory programme <strong>for</strong> all new ITE lecturers. Theprogramme aims to prepare the new lecturers with basic broad based pedagogiccompetence to carry out the roles expected of ITE lecturers, such as learningdesigners and facilitators, caring role model and reflective practitioners of teaching.Learners need to successfully complete a total of seven modules or equivalent tobe awarded the PCTE by ITE. The list of skills standards making up the PCTEqualification are listed in Appendix II.MUTUAL RECOGNITION OF CREDENTIALS BETWEEN DACE AND PCTEITE’s PCTE skills standards have been benchmarked to the corresponding WSQcompetency units of the DACE qualification and under this mutual recognitionarrangement, the <strong>Singapore</strong> Work<strong>for</strong>ce Development Agency (WDA) will accordcredit exemptions to ITE’s PCTE graduates who wish to pursue the DACEqualification.Likewise, under the same arrangement, ITE grants credit exemptions to DACEgraduates who wish to pursue PCTE skills standards.The <strong>details</strong> of credit exemptions accorded to DACE and PCTE graduates by therespective organisations are listed in Appendix III.
