USE<br />

COADIS 2 is a non-independent terminal air conditioning unit<br />

installed in suspended ceilings which combines low cost<br />

installation and operating advantages of central hot/chilled<br />

water production with individual temperature control for each<br />

room. Hydraulic connections can be installed in the suspended<br />

ceiling of the corridor adjacent to the room, and condensates<br />

can be drained by gravity (water pump not required).<br />

OPERATING PRINCIPLE<br />

The centrifugal fan uses a high-efficiency impeller to draw in air<br />

through a perforated return air register. The air is filtered then<br />

warmed or cooled as it passes through a high-efficiency heat<br />

exchanger containing hot or chilled water and/or an electric<br />

heater. Air is then pulsed horizontally into the room by<br />

COANDA effect through several directional diffusion nozzles<br />

with a high induction rate.<br />

RANGE<br />

COADIS 2 is particuarly adapted to office configurations up to<br />

3 panels wide (3 x 1.35 m) and 6 m long max.<br />

The 3 sizes of the COADIS 2 cover a range of air flows from<br />

130 to 800 m3/h, meeting the most stringent sound level<br />

requirements.<br />

Type 235/11 fits into 600 × 600 mm panels<br />

Type 235/22 fits into 600 × 900 mm panels<br />

Type 235/33 fits into 600 × 1200 mm panels<br />

Two models, Classic and Raised, are available, and in most<br />

cases there is no need for a draining pump (and therefore<br />

maintenance is reduced).<br />

The white RAL 9010 panel integrates perfectly into suspended<br />

ceilings.<br />

Consult us for special panel sizes: 650 × 650, 650 × 1300,<br />

675 × 675, 675 × 1350, etc.<br />

COADIS 2 are non-independent terminal air conditioning units<br />

installed at the end of a room. Their dimensions are suitable for<br />

integration into standard 600 × 600 suspended ceiling panels.<br />

The units are easy to install on four threaded rods, preferably<br />

with resilient mounts. The unit is designed so as to avoid the<br />

installation of a draining pump in most cases. The hydraulic<br />

connections can be made from pipes in the suspended ceiling<br />

of the corridor adjacent to the room, and condensates can be<br />

drained by gravity directly into the main evacuation pipe.<br />

COADIS 2 solves indoor air quality problems by a comfort-type<br />

approach, optimising air diffusion and minimising power<br />

consumption. The entire air diffusion system is included in the<br />

intake/outlet panel, with no additional ducts or grilles.<br />

To optimise air diffusion, we use nozzles with a high induction<br />

coefficient, causing the ambient air to be drawn along by the<br />

discharge air. This enables the air stream to stick to the ceiling<br />

by Coanda effect, avoiding draughts in the occupied area of the<br />

room. The units are designed for offices up to 5 or 6 metres<br />

long.<br />

The directional nozzles enable the range of the air jet and the<br />

lateral component to be adjusted (see Figure A).<br />

Similarly, the air jet can be directed at a chosen angle, allowing<br />

the COADIS 2 to be installed in a corner and still maintain good<br />

air distribution.<br />

The COADIS 2 is designed in accordance with the<br />

requirements of the ISO 7730 standard: “Determination of the<br />

PMV and PPD indexes and specification of the conditions for<br />

thermal comfort conditions”.<br />

In short, the COADIS 2 is designed for optimal reduction of<br />

local discomfort factors in the occupied volume, as shown on<br />

the graphs above:<br />

● Recommended vertical temperature gradient with max.<br />

difference of 3°C.<br />

● Asymmetric radiation minimised by effective air mixing (cold<br />

wall phenomenon).<br />

● Recommended floor temperature between 23 and 25°C for a<br />

seated person.<br />

● No draught felt by the user, with air speeds not exceeding<br />

0.25 m/s in normal operating conditions.<br />

Acoustic comfort has not been overlooked, as shown by the<br />

comfort levels on next pages.<br />

We have defined the occupied zone in accordance with the<br />

CEN TC 156 WG6 European working group “Design criteria for<br />

the indoor environment”, that is:<br />

■ Distance from external window: 1.0 m<br />

■ Distance from external wall: 0.5 m<br />

■ Distance from entrance door: 1.0 m<br />

■ Distance from internal wall: 0.5 m<br />

■ Distance from floor: 1.8 m<br />

Obstacles in the air stream (beams, light fittings, etc.) should<br />

be avoided as the air jet can behave in one of three ways:<br />

■ Breaks away from the ceiling and drops, disturbing comfort.<br />

■ Breaks away from the ceiling then rises again downstream<br />

from the obstacle.<br />

■ Ignores the obstacle.<br />

It is clear that various construction trades must work together<br />

to ensure thermal and acoustic comfort and high quality air<br />

diffusion for users. On site tests should be carried out in order<br />

to optimise air diffusion and other parameters to obtain the<br />

desired comfort level.<br />
