Temple Adat Shalom Participates in the
Poway Interfaith Council’s “Jewish Nite” Program
August 9, 2007 marked Temple Adat Shalom’s
participation at the Poway Interfaith Council Jewish
Nite, hosted by Pastor Larson at the Poway Community
Church. It is a Temple event which will be long
remembered by the community, with approximately
110 guests attending.
Dr. Sheldon Diamond, a long-time member of the
Poway Interfaith Council, introduced Rabbi Malino to
the people of various faiths in the community room.
Our Rabbi gave a brilliant presentation and answered
questions from guests and clergy with ease. One guest,
who remains anonymous, was so impressed, that he
gave a very generous sum to open a non-profit bank
account for future programs.
We are very grateful to our local supermarkets and
natural food stores for their generous gift cards which
provided us with all the food for our bountiful buffet
table. Please patronize Albertson’s, Vons, Ralphs, Stater
Bros., Henry’s Marketplace, and Baron’s who provided
all of the food and paper goods for the Taste of Judaism
and the Poway Interfaith Council Picnic at Lake Poway
on August 19th.
To our TAS cooks and bakers who spent many
hours shopping, chopping, and preparing all the
specialties for the beautiful buffet, thank you for a job
well done. Your labor of love was enjoyed by many
different faith groups in our community.
Special thanks to Joy and Jack Torchin, Laurie and
Alan Rathsam, Freda Heller, Fran Goldstein, and Ruth
Gach for all of their hard work. To Lorri Baker, who
helped immensely with the work behind the scenes,
and Richard Stegman, for taking all the photos at the
Jewish Nite, a special word of appreciation.
I thouroughly enjoyed coordinating the event and
working with all the wonderful people who helped make
this such a success.
