Carla Wilson was promoted to the<br />
Senior Associate <strong>Athletics</strong> Director for<br />
Business and Finance in September<br />
of 2007.<br />
Prior to her appointment, Wilson served<br />
as the Assistant <strong>Athletics</strong> Director for<br />
Business Operations for nine years.<br />
In her current role, Wilson is responsible<br />
for the human resources and<br />
business operations of the department,<br />
as well as all day-to-day operations in<br />
the absence of the Director of <strong>Athletics</strong>.<br />
Wilson is responsible for the preparation,<br />
development and maintenance of<br />
the budgets for all 15 sports and nine<br />
administrative areas of the department.<br />
She is also the sport administrator<br />
for men’s and women’s tennis and<br />
softball, and serves as a member of the<br />
Director of <strong>Athletics</strong> senior staff.<br />
As Senior Woman Administrator, Wilson<br />
is the highest ranking female involved<br />
with the management of <strong>UMKC</strong>’s Intercollegiate<br />
<strong>Athletics</strong> program, and represents<br />
<strong>UMKC</strong> in dealings with The Summit League and the NCAA. She also<br />
partakes in program-wide administrative responsibilities, including decision<br />
making at the institutional, conference and national levels. She collaboratively<br />
addresses departmental goals, supports women’s interests, and supports<br />
and helps manage diversity, gender equity and Title IX matters.<br />
Wilson is no stranger to NCAA Committees. From 2004-2007, she served<br />
on the Division I NCAA Men’s and Women’s Tennis Committee. This committee<br />
is responsible for selecting the 64 men’s and women’s teams that<br />
compete for the opportunity to play for a national championship, as well as<br />
selecting the singles and doubles entries that compete for the individual/<br />
doubles championships.<br />
Since 1999, Wilson has also served on the NCAA Region V Post Graduate<br />
Scholarship Committee. She is also an active member of the National Association<br />
of Collegiate Women <strong>Athletics</strong> Administrators, College Athletic<br />
Business Management Association and the Minority Opportunities Athletic<br />
Association.<br />
A 19-year career Kangaroo, prior to Wilson’s 10 years in <strong>Athletics</strong>, she<br />
served <strong>UMKC</strong> as a budget specialist in the University’s administrative affairs<br />
office for four years, where she was responsible for assisting in the preparation<br />
of the University’s $159,000 budget. From 1988-93, she also served in<br />
the Accounting Department as a senior accountant.<br />
Wilson graduated from <strong>UMKC</strong> in 1988 with a bachelor’s degree in accounting.<br />
She and her husband, Kevin, have four children – Shae, Tristan, Kevin<br />
Jr. and Kylan – and they reside in Olathe, Kan.<br />
Steve Stroud<br />
Associate <strong>Athletics</strong> Director<br />
for Advancement<br />
University of Georgia, ‘00<br />
and overall donor stewardship focus.<br />
Steve Stroud was named the Associate<br />
<strong>Athletics</strong> Director for Advancement at<br />
<strong>UMKC</strong> on Aug. 28, 2007. He joins the<br />
Kangaroo staff after spending the past<br />
four-and-a-half years as an Assistant<br />
<strong>Athletics</strong> Director for Annual Giving at<br />
the University of Memphis.<br />
While at Memphis, Stroud was responsible<br />
for increasing the annual donations<br />
by 40 percent<br />
from 2004-07. He oversaw an increase<br />
from $4 million to $5.6 million, which<br />
included a 10 percent increase in each<br />
of the last three fiscal years. In addition,<br />
Stroud created a new donor level<br />
at $15,000 annually, bringing in over<br />
60 members in year one.<br />
Stroud also assisted in the launch of a<br />
new athletic capital campaign at Memphis,<br />
which is nearing 80 percent of its<br />
$12 million overall goal. Upon arriving<br />
at UM, Stroud completely rebranded<br />
the athletic annual fund by coming up<br />
with a new name, logo, donor benefits<br />
In addition to his annual giving role, Stroud coordinated priority seating and<br />
parking for men’s basketball, including the seating and later reseating of the<br />
new FedExForum. He also implemented a new priority seating program for<br />
football, overseeing the day-to-day operations of the plan.<br />
Prior to his move to Memphis, Stroud was the Assistant Director of Annual<br />
Giving at the University of Miami. At this stop, he helped increase annual<br />
giving from $2.5 million to over $4 million, while serving as the top contact<br />
for the school’s top donors.<br />
He also coordinated two separate building campaigns seeking a total of<br />
$58 million and assisted in the procurement of a $4 million naming rights<br />
gift. Stroud also helped to create a new volunteer representative program,<br />
where he served as the main contact for four regional chapter.<br />
Stroud received his bachelor of business administration degree from the<br />
University of Georgia in May of 2000. He earned his masters of science in<br />
sports administration from St. Thomas University in December of 2001.<br />
Stroud and his wife, Deirdre, have a son, Carter, and they’re expecting a<br />
second child in November.<br />
Janet Justus<br />
Associate <strong>Athletics</strong> Director<br />
for Administration<br />
University of Kansas, ‘78<br />
Janet Justus is in her first year as the<br />
acting Associate <strong>Athletics</strong> Director for<br />
Administration. Justus is taking the<br />
position recently vacated by the extended<br />
illness and death of longtime<br />
<strong>UMKC</strong> Senior Woman Administrator,<br />
Cynthia Gabel.<br />
Until very recently, Justus, a former<br />
senior staffer for the NCAA with 23<br />
years of experience in sports law and<br />
higher education, practiced law at<br />
Verrill Dana LLP, a law firm based in<br />
Portland, Maine, since 1999. On July<br />
1, she formed Janet Justus, LLC, a<br />
law and consulting firm focusing on<br />
issues in intercollegiate athletics and<br />
higher education. Shortly thereafter,<br />
Justus began working with the <strong>UMKC</strong><br />
<strong>Athletics</strong> Department, focusing on various<br />
areas, including compliance, in the<br />
department..<br />
During her eight years at Verrill Dana,<br />
Justus practiced and consulted in the<br />
areas of Title IX compliance, litigation,<br />
NCAA rules compliance and NCAA<br />
student-athlete eligibility appeals, contract<br />
negotiations, sexual-harassment education; athletics risk management<br />
and development of policies and procedures.<br />
During her 15-year tenure on the NCAA staff, Justus oversaw the inaugural<br />
development and growth of critical areas for the NCAA membership,<br />
including the eligibility-appeals department, Title IX education, the NCAA<br />
Student-Athlete Leadership Conference, the growth and influence of the<br />
National Student-Athlete Advisory Committees and the NCAA CHAMPS/Life<br />
Skills program, now mandatory at all NCAA Division I institutions, including<br />
<strong>UMKC</strong>.<br />
Justus served in several key positions at the NCAA national office, including<br />
Director of Education Outreach (1994-99), Director/Assistant Director of Eligibility<br />
(1987-1994) and Enforcement Representative (1984-87). She also<br />
was the national spokesperson for the NCAA on Title IX and gender-equity<br />
issues and produced the NCAA “Achieving Gender-Equity Guide,” on these<br />
issues. Justus was the primary staff liaison to the NCAA Eligibility Committee,<br />
NCAA Committee on Women’s <strong>Athletics</strong>, the NCAA Student-Athlete<br />
Advisory Committee, and she has been a frequent speaker nationwide for<br />
seminars and conferences focusing on Title IX.<br />
Justus received the Alumni Achievement Award from the University of Kansas<br />
in 1998. In 1999, she was named the NACWAA National Administrator<br />
of the Year, and she was awarded the Distinguished Service Award by the<br />
United States Sports Academy. In 2000, Justus was named the WIN for KC/<br />
Greater Kansas City Sports Commission Mentor of the Year.<br />
As a Kansas City community leader, she chairs the Chancellor’s Advisory<br />
Board to the <strong>UMKC</strong> Women’s Center; is the former long-time chair of WIN for<br />
KC; is a former member of the Executive Committee of the Greater Kansas<br />
City Sports Commission and recently was named to the KCUR FM Board<br />
of Directors.<br />
A Kansas City native, Justus earned her Juris Doctorate at the University Of<br />
Kansas School Of Law in 1981. She graduated from Kansas with honors in<br />
1978 with a bachelor of arts in sociology.<br />

Jessica Dickson<br />
Assistant <strong>Athletics</strong> Director<br />
for External Relations<br />
Central Missouri State, ‘02<br />
drew approximately 3,500 paid fans each year.<br />
Jessica Dickson was named the Assistant<br />
<strong>Athletics</strong> Director for External<br />
Relations in July of 2007. Dickson<br />
joined the <strong>UMKC</strong> staff as the Director of<br />
Marketing and Promotions in August of<br />
2006. As the Assistant AD for External<br />
Relations, Dickson oversees the marketing<br />
and promotions and ticketing<br />
initiatives for the Kangaroos.<br />
Dickson came to <strong>UMKC</strong> from Time<br />
Warner Cable/Metro Sports in Kansas<br />
City. While with TWC, Dickson created<br />
promotional materials and advertising<br />
packages for sporting events, movies,<br />
specials and cable networks. She also<br />
educated Time Warner media sales<br />
departments across the country on the<br />
network’s programming.<br />
Her duties with Metro Sports included<br />
serving as a communications and<br />
promotions liaison between Metro and<br />
the media sales office. She served as<br />
a team member in planning Hy-Vee<br />
Shootout high school basketball events<br />
from 2003 through 2005. This event<br />
In addition, Dickson coordinated Internet sales during her time at TWC,<br />
which included the highly successful www.beepbeep.com, an automotive<br />
marketplace Web site in Kansas City. The Web site averaged 30 participating<br />
dealerships in 2005, and it achieved 1.2 million hits since the launch<br />
on May 4, 2005.<br />
For her hard work at Time Warner, Dickson was honored with the Vision and<br />
Values Award in October 2002 and in July 2005.<br />
In addition, Dickson has volunteered at the Kansas City Sports Commission<br />
and Foundations/WIN for KC since 2005. She is a WIN for KC luncheon committee<br />
member and a Women’s Basketball Coaches Association Basketball<br />
Tournament committee member.<br />
Dickson graduated from Central Missouri State University in May 2002 with<br />
a bachelor of science degree in public relations and a minor in photography.<br />
At CMSU, she was a four-year letterwinner on the women’s soccer team.<br />
Dickson and her husband, Ryan, reside in Liberty, Mo.<br />
Ron Aulet<br />
Assistant <strong>Athletics</strong> Director<br />
for Operations/Facilities<br />
Hiram College ‘95<br />
Ron Aulet began his duties as the<br />
Assistant <strong>Athletics</strong> Director for Operations/Facilities<br />
on May 2, 2007.<br />
Aulet, who comes to <strong>UMKC</strong> from the<br />
University of Kansas, oversees game<br />
operations, strength and conditioning,<br />
sports medicine and the track and field<br />
programs. He will also serve as the<br />
point person for construction of new<br />
athletic facilities.<br />
Aulet was the equipment manager<br />
at Kansas since 2000, where he was<br />
responsible for maintenance and<br />
inventory of all equipment for KU’s<br />
Olympic sports programs. In this role,<br />
he completed the day-to-day operations<br />
within the athletics facilities and<br />
purchased equipment within the restraints<br />
of department contracts with<br />
Nike, Adidas and other vendors. He<br />
also served as the departmental contact<br />
with Coca-Cola for the distribution<br />
of product within the KUAC.<br />
Prior to his move to Kansas, Aulet was<br />
the head equipment manager at Hiram<br />
College in Ohio. In this position, he was responsible for the handling of<br />
equipment for the school’s 17 intercollegiate sports programs. Aulet also<br />
served as an assistant facilities director at Hiram, where he supervised the<br />
daily operation of all athletic facilities and scheduled staffing for all intercollegiate<br />
events.<br />
At Hiram, Aulet also ventured into the coaching profession as an assistant<br />
coach for both the men’s basketball and baseball programs from 1996-<br />
2000. For both sports, he coordinated travel arrangements for all away contests<br />
and served as a liaison to the school’s alumni association.<br />
Aulet is a certified member of the Athletic Equipment Manager Association<br />
and he was a member of the KUAC Staff Advisory Committee from 2002-04,<br />
while serving as a Chairperson in 2003-04.<br />
Aulet earned his bachelor of arts degree in management from Hiram College<br />
in 1995 and he received his master of arts degree with a sports administration<br />
concentration from Kent State University in 1999.<br />
Aulet and his wife, Kerrianne, have two daughters, Danielle and Samantha,<br />
and they reside in Lawrence, Kan.<br />
Robert Greim<br />
Assistant <strong>Athletics</strong> Director<br />
for Student Services<br />
Southwest Missouri St., ‘00<br />
Robert Greim joined the <strong>UMKC</strong> <strong>Athletics</strong><br />
Department as Director of Student<br />
Services on August 16, 2004. In September<br />
of 2005, Greim was promoted<br />
to Assistant <strong>Athletics</strong> Director for Student<br />
Services.<br />
In addition to his role as the Assistant<br />
<strong>Athletics</strong> Director for Student Services,<br />
Greim is the advisor for the Student-<br />
Athlete Advisory Committe (SAAC), and<br />
he is the program director of the <strong>UMKC</strong><br />
CHAMPS/Life Skills programs.<br />
Prior to his appointment at <strong>UMKC</strong>,<br />
Greim had served as the assistant<br />
director of the office of academic<br />
support at the University of Wyoming<br />
athletics department. He monitored the<br />
academic progress, degree completion<br />
and continuing eligibility of over 200<br />
student-athletes in the sports of football,<br />
men’s basketball, wrestling, men’s<br />
and women’s golf, men’s and women’s<br />
swimming and tennis. He also served<br />
as tutor coordinator, instructor of a<br />
freshman transition course, and director<br />
of a number of CHAMPS/Life Skills programs designed to increase the<br />
interaction between the academic faculty and the athletic staff.<br />
Greim also provided a number of systems for tracking semester grade improvement,<br />
weeklygrade point average correlation, tutor effectiveness and<br />
student-athlete success rates in freshman and sophomore level courses.<br />
Prior to accepting a position at Wyoming, Greim served as a graduate assistant<br />
academic advisor for athletics at Southwest Missouri State University<br />
for two years.<br />
Greim earned a bachelor of science degree in secondary education history<br />
with a minor in geography from Southwest Missouri State in 2000. He<br />
then completed a master of science degree in administrative studies from<br />
Southwest Missouri State in 2002.<br />
Greim and his wife, Jill, and their daughter Charlie reside in Liberty, Mo.
