Jewell Holcomb, during a visit at his home on December 27, 1994, remembered a time when he and his 

father saw Asa Holcomb at the top of a hill walking toward their house with his cane. He and his 

father made a good-natured game out of predicting how many minutes it would take As to make it 

down the hill and to the house. He got there in seven or eight minutes. 

Asa Holcomb's muster rolls show that he joined for duty in the Civil War on March 13, 1862 in Floyd 

County , Georgia as a part of Capt. Kerr's Co., Col. Morrison's Regiment; Company H of the 21st 

Georgia Calvary. he was mustered in on April 29, 1862 at Camp McDonld and received a $50.00

Lexington, Kentucky to Camp Chase, Ohio on June 10, 1863 where he stayed until June 14th Asa was 

then sent to a prisoner-of-war camp at Johnson Island, New York. Later that year, November 30, 1863, 

he was transferred to Point Lookout, Maryland until he was released in a prisoner exchange on July 12, 

1865. 

Asa Holcomb applied on June 28 , 1901 for a Civil War veteran pension from the State of Arkansas. 

The accompanying physicians report describes Asa as suffering from an injury to his left knee. On of 

his comrades-in-arms, Joe Wilson, attests that the injury came during his service in the Civil War. Asa, 

when he applied in 1907 to increase his pension, testified that the injury occurred when his horse fell 

on him in battle. 

Asa Holcomb's obituary in the Southern Standard newspaper (2/10/96, p5, c4) reads as follows: Uncle 

Ace , one of the oldest citizens of Clark County, died at the home of his son, W.B. Holcomb on 

Saturday morning February 5, at 5:30 o'clock. He was 89 years old, and leaves one brother, one sister, 

four children, several grand and great-grandchildren to mourn his death. We extend our sympathy to 

the bereaved ones. Mr. Holcomb was an old soldier having served in the Civil War. (Roger Crowson

Enlisted in the Confederate Service in 1862 and served for three years and a few months. Served in 

Monroe's regiment, 1st Arkansas Cavalry and he enlisted in Clark County, Arkansas. Was in Co. F 1st 

Ark Confederate Cavalry. 

William Holcomb served in the Civil War with the writer's Great Grandfather on the maternal side: 

William Miller Crowson, who acted as a witness to W.M. Holcomb's application for a Confederate 

Pension in 1904. The application for pension was approved in 1907. The pension number is 12692. W. 

M. joined the CSA in ARK with his Brother Joseph Holcomb who was about 7 years older. 

William Mindet lived in Ladonia, Texas in 1903. Additionally he had a Brother, Joseph Holcomb living 

in Ladonia, Texas at the time. 

In 1903, William Taylor Holcomb, brought his family from Alabama to Ladonia , Texas. This writer 

has always pondered the question that of all the places in the world why his Grandfather, William 

Taylor Holcomb, picked Ladonia, Fannin County, Texas. Now I know. (Roger Crowson Holcomb) 

Joseph Holcomb states in his affadavit that he has known William M Holcomb all his life and that he 

first knew him in Alabama which pretty much places Alabama as his place of birth. Have to assume 

that Solomon and Elizabeth were living there at the time. 

My father, Travis Holcomb used to tell a story about his grandfather, William M having a long white 

beard which he hadn't shaved since the Civil War. One day he was sitting on the front porch taking a 

nap and something kept waking him up. He opened his eyes just a fraction and saw a small sparrow

tugging on his beard. The sparrow flew away to his nest and tucked the long white hair into the nest 

lining. WM didn't move and kep his eyes partially closed and the sparrow came back several times for 

the beard hairs. WM stayed still as long as he could about and hour until pain and laughter made him 

get up and go into the house, but the sparrow had a nice fluffy nest lining. (Darrell Holcomb)

On 16 January, 1929 she filed for a continuation of her husband, William M. Holcombs Civil War 

pension. It ws approved on January 17, 1929. 

May Ann died in Tyler, Smith County Texas on April 20, 1946. She had been staying at the home of 

her daughter A. L. Carr for three years at the time of her passing. 

In a letter written to her Mother dated Aug 18, 1895 she wrote "O! Mother, how I wish I could be with 

you just one time more! I still have that hope though of us meeting again sometime....I don't want you 

to be bothering about us children. We will all do the best we can." Mary Ann was 53 and Althea was

Notes for William Taylor Holcomb: 

William Taylor Holcomb and Eliza Matilda Garret Celebrated the Rite of Holy Matrimony on the 12th 

day of August, 1869 at the home of Mr. and Mrs. James Garrett in Key , Alabama. They were united by 

the Reverend B. D. Turner. Witnesses were: S. E. Dykes and Louiza Baker. William Taylor and Eliza 

Holcomb had twelve children , all born in Cherokee County, Alabama. The first was born in 1871 and 

the last was born in 1895. Eliza died September 13, 1895 and William Taylor Holcomb married Luella 

Cantrell Nee Strickland on July 2, 1896. 

Luella came to the marriage with four children but after the death of Eliza the younger brothers and 

sisters of Will T. and Eliza scattered, living with some of the older ones who were already out on their 

own. At some time between 1896 and 1900 William Taylor Holcomb moved his family from Key , 

Alabama in Cherokee County to the vicinity of Gilbert's Cross Roads on Sand Mountain. For a period 

of time while living on Sand Mountain, William T. Holcomb carried the mail by horseback from the 

railroad depot at Portersville , Al. to three small post offices on Sand Mountain. These post offices 

were: Floy, Wills and Ophir(no longer in existence). 

At some time in 1903, William Taylor Holcomb moved his family from Alabama to Ladonia, Texas. He 

and his family lived in the Ladonia area, Paris area and Greenville area up until at least 1920 when 

Luella passed away on November 28,1920. William Taylor Holcomb was 73 years of age at that time 

and from that point on until his death on December 31, 1929 he lived with his children, spending 

time with each of them and finally dying in the home of his daughter, Esther Clemmentine Dooley Nee 

Holcomb. William Taylor Holcomb had fathered 19 Children during his lifetime although some died 

at a very young age.

John Hugh James Holcomb was born in Alabama on August 31, 1871. He was the eldest child of Eliza 

Matilda Garret and William Taylor Holcomb. JHJ Holcomb never married. Presumably , he left Key, 

Alabama in 1905 at the age of thirty-four and settled in Walters, Oklahoma which was in Cotton 

County. It is not known if he stopped in Ladonia, Texas to visit his father there but would assume such a 

visit. JHJ Holcomb lived in Walters until October 9, 1930 when , in a state of depression, he shot 

himself in the head in his back yard. His brother, Grover Cleveland Holcomb , from Gunter , Texas was

there and he and their sister, Buena Vista Holcomb, who was living with JHJ Holcomb at the time of his 

death,were watching over him, but he got out of their sight and had shot himself before he could be 

found. JHJ Holcomb had lived in Walters for twenty five years and had been active in business and 

public life. He was a member of the local school board when he died. Other relatives are, Miss Fairy 

Williams of Birmingham, Alabama, Benjamin Wyatt Holcomb of Borger , Texas, Mrs. A.A. Holcomb and

Notes for Grover Cleveland Holcomb: 

Grover was born March 24, 1888 in the Key community of Cherokee County, Alabama. At some point 

in time Grover left Alabama and followed his older brother, John Hugh James Holcomb, to Oklahoma. 

This was before 1918 because Grover was in an Oklahoma unit that fought in World War 1. At some 

time between his return from the war and 1930 , Grover opened a drug and soda store in Oklahome and 

later he opened one around Sherman, Texas. Grover was present on the day Uncle Jim shot and killed 

himself on October 9, 1930. At some time between 1939 and 1940 , Grover became ill with what was 

called shell shock at the time(post Traumatic Syndrome today) and turned himself in to the Veterans 

Hospital in Waco , Texas. Uncle Grover never left the hospital. He passed away ther in 1965 and is 

buried on the grounds.The writer remembers Uncle Grover from visits in 1935, 1936, 1937 and 1938. 

Especially remember eating Banana splits, Sundaes and Ice Cream sodas at the Soda Counter in his 

store. During his stay in Waco, Grover could really only recognize Billy Melvin Moore, the son of his 

half sister, Martha Louise Holcomb Moore.

handed down from W.T. and Eliza Matilda through C.E. Holcomb to Myrtice Minshew (Nee Holcomb) 

Aunt Buenas' name is noted as Noba Bunivistia Holcomb. At some time between June 1940 and June 

1941 Buena Vista Holcomb married a man by the name of Taylor. Given name not known. Buena was 

fifty years of age at the time. Buena had a difficult time growing up. Her mother, Eliza Matilda, died in 

1895 when Buena was 4 Years of age. At that time she was handed up to Charles Edward Holcomb, an 

older brother who was married and settled in Key, Alabama, in his wagon and told him that he now had 

the responsibility of taking care of Buena. She stayed with C.E. Edwards until sometime after 1912 

when she went to live with her eldest brother JHJ Holcomb who had settled in Walters , Oklahoma. She 

remained with JHJ until he committed suicide on October 9, 1930. From that time she went to live with 

her Brother, Grover Cleveland Holcomb in Gunter , Texas. She remained with Grover until he 

voluntarily placed himself in the Veterans Hospital in Waco, Texas for what was known as "shell shock" 

in those days after WWl. At some point between June 1940 and June 1941 Buena married a man by the 

Surname of Taylor. They moved to Washington D.C. where Buena worked in the Pentagon for the 

Department of the Army until her retirement from Civil Service. Her marriage did not last long and 

upon her retirement from civil service she moved to Birmingham, Alabama, probably to be close to 

relatives. She did not remain there long and moved to Florida to live with Myrtice Menshew, a daughter 

of Charles Edward Holcomb with whom Buena had grown up with. They later bought a house in 

Shannon, Georgia and lived there until they both passed away. Buena passed away in April 1981. She 

is buried in Rome, Georgia. 

Buena Vista Holcomb applied for her Social Security Number on September 12, 1943 while living in 

Lawton, Oklahoma. At the time she was working for Earl Zorger of Earl's Drug Store in Lawton, 

Oklahoma. She was married at the time to Roy Taylor. She listed as her father, William Taylor 

Holcomb and as her mother, Mathilda Garrett. She listed Key, Cherokee County, Alabama as her place 

of birth. 

Notes for Roy Taylor: 

Roy Taylor was a traveling salesman and called on Uncle Grover at his Drugstore in Gunther, Texas. 

Met and married Aunt Buena at some time between Mar 25, 1940 and April, 1941. Marriage lasted only 

one year. Have heard from family members that after her divorce , Aunt Buena never wanted to talk 

about him or hear his name. According to family members Roy Taylor was not a faithful husband.

Lola May was born in Cherokee County, Alabama in July 1897. In either 1897 or 1898 the family 

moved to the Sand Mountain area of DeKalb County , Alabama. They stayed there until 1903 then 

moved to Texas. They took a train to Honey Grove , Texas and thence to Ladonia, Texas where her 

father took a job as manager of a large cotton farm. Her brother, Benjamin Wyatt Holcomb, said that 

Lola had always said that as soon as she was eighteen years of age she was leaving East Texas and 

returning to the East. When she was eighteen she did leave, went to Washington D. C. , lived with the 

half sister of her maternal Grandmother, Esther Strickland, in Arlington, Virginia. She worked for a 

Coal and Power company in that area, met one of the salesmen of that company, L. L. Marx, and 

married him. Roy was transferred or went to Atlanta, Georgia, and Lola May was back in Georgia 

where she had always wanted to be. She and Roy stayed in Atlanta for the remainder of their lives.

Lola changed her name to Francille at some point in time. She died in Atlanta in 1987. She and Roy 

had no children. Prior to leaving Texas, Lola worked as a Postmistress in Pattonville, Texas, in the 

cosmetic Department of a store in Paris, Texas and for Neiman-Marcus in Dallas.

Jewell Holcomb, during a visit on December 27, 1994 at his home, remembered that his grandfather 

William Bennett Holcomb suffered greatly before his death from a huge buildup of fluids that caused 

him to swell very large. Jewell remembered that even as a child he knew that William Bennett was 

going to die after the doctor pierced his side in order to remove the fluid. He described someone as 

saying that the treatment was the same as that for a bloated mule. William Bennett's suffering was 

lessened but he died soon after.

T. and Eliza Matilda Garrett Holcomb, born April 21, 1883 in Cherokee County, Alabama near Rock 

Run Furnace, at the home of her maternal Grandfather, James (Jimmy) Garrett. Her mother died when 

she was twelve years of age and her father remarried a year later. She lived with her father and 

stepmother (Luella Strickland Cantrell) until she married six years later. At some time during this 

period her father moved his family to DeKalb county, settling in the vicinity of Gilberts Cross Roads on

Martha Louise Holcomb was born in Cherokee County, Alabama on March 12, 1899. Soon after her 

birth her father moved his family to the Sand Mountain area of Alabama in DeKalb, County. Late in 

1903 her father, William Taylor Holcomb, moved the family once again, this time to Ladonia, Texas. It 

was in this general area of Texas that Martha Louise Holcomb would spend the rest of her life. She 

married Olvey Melvin Moore from the area of Lone Oak, Texas and it was in this area that she settled 

and raised her family of one boy and two girls. She married Olvey Moore on September 2, 1920 in 

Greenville, Texas, Hunt County. Martha Louise Holcomb Moore died on Saturday, August 18, 1979 in 

a Golden, Colorado hospital. She was visiting her Daughter, Martha Earl Moore Riordan at the time. 

Her mother was Luella Strickland Cantrell Holcomb. Mattie Louise was a member of the Lone Oak 

Baptist church and a past member of the Order of the Eastern Star. Survivors include a son, Billy 

Melvin Moore of Lone Oak; daughters, Mary Mosley of Tyler and Martha Riordan of Golden, 

Colorado; sisters Mrs. Ray Williams of Albuquerque, New Mexico, Mrs. B.B. Dooley of Commerce, 

Texas, Mrs. L.L. Marx of Atlanta, Georgia; seven grandchildren and two great-grandchildren. She was 

preceded in death by her husband on January 3, 1952. Martha Louise was buried in the City Cemetery 

of Lone Oak, Texas.Aunt Louise's Social Security Number was 451-50-9590. Her last residence was in 

Tyler , Texas, in the home of Mary Lou , her daughter.

Olvey Melvin Moore was born in Lone Oak , Texas. He started working in a blacksmith shop there 

when he was twelve years old. After working there for several years he wandered around for a few 

years and then came back and somehow put together the money to buy the blacksmith shop he had 

worked at at a younger age and stayed there for over forty years. Olvey liked to play dominoes and 

played quite often with Ben Holcomb, Herbert Cantrell and Bonnie Dooley. They played mostly 42 

and played for drinks. The winner would get a drink from the corn likker bottle and the losers would 

get a sniff. Ater the games they would sit around the drop forge in Olveys blacksmith shop and sing 

songs such as Sweet Adeline. Olvey was a good , Hard working man who along with Martha Louise 

raised a good family of one boy and two girls. He died on January 3, 1952 and is buried in Lone Oak, 

Texas.

Benjamin Wyatt Holcomb was born in Dekalb County, Alabama in the Gilberts' Road Cross Roads area 

of the Sand Mountains. He lived there until late in 1903 when his father and mother, William Taylor 

and Luella Strickland Cantrell Holcomb, moved the family to Ladonia, Texas. For the next several 

years the family moved from one area of East Texas to another. From Ladonia to Paris to outside 

Greenville close to Campbell. On October 14, 1922 Benjamin Wyatt Holcomb married Miss Bennie Zue 

Rogers of Campbell, Texas in Greenville, Texas. At the time Ben W. Holcomb was working as a farm 

hand on a farm in which he was given 80 acres to work on his own in payment for working the 

remainder of the farm for the owner. Their eldest son, James Allen, was born during this period in 

Campbell, Texas on January 11, 1924. At some time between January, 1924 and October , 1925, Ben 

and Bennie Holcomb moved the family to Snyder, Texas and Ben Started working in the oil field 

industry. They next moved to Trent, Texas and after several years they moved to the Panhandle of 

Texas in Hutchinson county. Ben was working as a roustabout in the oil fields and they lived in 

Sanford, Texas and the area around Fritch. They later moved to an area just south of Borger, Texas on 

the the Margaret Johnson Lease and later to the Pritchard Lease north of Phillips . It was at this time 

in 1935 that Ben and Bennies youngest child, a girl, died. She was just over three years old. From there 

they moved to an area east of Shamrock, Texas. After several years in the Shamrock area they moved 

back to the area around Borger, Stinnett and Pampa, Texas. Upon his retirement from Phillips Pet. Co. 

, they bought a home in Pampa, Texas at 2900 Rosewood Lane and lived there until Benjamin Wyatt 

Holcomb passed away on March 11, 1974. Bennie continued living at their home until she passed 

away on March 17, 1981. Benjamin Wyatt Holcomb is buried in the family plot in Brigham Cemetery in 

Campbell, Texas.

Petroleum Company in Bartlesville, Okla. He and his family were living in the area of Shamrock ,

Panhandle of Texas. After several years she moved with her family to Shamrock, Texas and after two 

or three years back to Hutchinson county. In 1947, after her boys had grown up and left the home , 

Bennie Zue started working in North Plains Hospital in Borger, Texas. She worked as a Nurse forthe 

next twenty five or thirty years. After moving from Hutchinson County to Grey County Bennie went to 

work at the Worthing Hospital in Pampa, Texas and worked ther for several years before finally 

retiring. She and Ben Holcomb bought a house on 2900 Rosewood Lane in Pampa . Benjamin Wyatt

Holcomb died there on March 11, 1974 and Bennie followed him on March 17, 1981. Bennie Zue is 

buried alongside her husband in the family plot in Brigham Cemetery outside of Campbell, Texas. 

Bennie Zue Holcomb applied for her Social Security Number on June 11, 1943.She and her family were 

living on the Timms Lease between Borger and Pampa, Texas in the Spring Creek Community and

ODESSA - Ocie L. Holcomb passed away Friday, Jan. 3, 2003, at Hospice 

House 

in Odessa after a long battle with Progressive Supranuclear Palsy. 

Ocie was born in Whitewright, Texas, on Nov. 24, 1916. He moved to 

Odessa in 

1937, and married Ruth Shoopman on March 23, 1940. He went to work for 

Phillips Petroleum Company in 1941. He went into the service during 

World 

War II and served three years in the Philippines and New Guinea in the 

389th 

Anti-Aircraft Division. Ocie returned to work for Phillips after the 

war and 

retired in 1980, after 40 years. 

Ocie was a devoted husband, father and grandfather. He was an avid 

fisherman, and he and Ruth enjoyed many years at their place on Lake 

Buchanan. 

Survivors include his wife of 62 years, Ruth; one son, Ronnie Holcomb 

and 

wife Patsy of Fort Worth; one daughter, Dianne Hughes of Odessa; two 

granddaughters, Michele Wilson and husband John of Gilbert, Ariz., and 

Tracie Hughes of Odessa; two great-grandsons, Matt and Sam Wilson, both 

of 

Gilbert, Ariz.; and daughter-in-law, Phyllis Holcomb of Fort Worth. 

The family would especially like to express their love and appreciation 

to 

Hilda Guajardo who devotedly cared for our "Pepaw" with so much love 

and 

tenderness; also to Judy Saenz, Gracie Leal, Home Hospice and Hospice 

House. 

Graveside services will be at 10 a.m. Monday, Jan. 6, 2002, at Sunset 

Memorial Gardens, under the direction of Hubbard-Kelly Funeral Home.

Billy John Holcomb was born in Trent, Taylor County, Texas on September 27, 1927. At the time he 

had two older brothers , James Allen and Roger Crowson. He entered Public School in Phillips, Texas 

and for the next several years he went to school in Phillips, Texas, Shamrock, Texas, Phillips , Texas, 

Spring Creek, Texas and finally to High School in Borger, Texas where he graduated in January of 1945 

after four and one half years of high school. He stayed back one half year to play footballin high school 

for the school year of 1944-45. He entered West Texas State Teachers College in January of 1945 on a 

football Scholarship and remained there until September 20, 1945 when he was called to active duty in

the U.S. Navy. He had joined the U.S. Naval Reserve on July 26, 1945. He began his naval career at the 

San Diego Naval Training Center in September , 1945. From that point on he served on various types 

of ships , including Submarines, on land installations in the continental U. S. and overseas and also in 

Aircraft. Married in Bellmore , Long Island to a Miss Virginia Ruth Brem on May 7, 1949, had a son, 

James Allen, born in Freeport, New York on March 8, 1950, was advanced to Chief Petty Officer in 

July, 1961 while stationed in Norfolk, Virginia and was Commissioned an Ensign in the U. S. Navy in 

November, 1962 while stationed in Norfolk, Virginia. He was advanced to Lt. Commander in 

December, 1972 while stationed in Naples , Italy, Retired as a Lt. Commander on March 1, 1975 while 

still stationed in Naples , Italy. Returned to the U.S. in 1975 and in June , 1979 bought an Amoco 

Service stationed and kept it until September, 1994 when he sold it and fully retired. Bought a new 

house in August , 1985 at 1937 Grayfalcon Drive, Norfolk, Virginia and continues to live there at 

present which is 1997. Had a quadruple heart by-pass in January , 1996, a very mild stroke in January 

, 1997 and Bells Palsey April, 1997. Bowls in a retired Officers and Wives bowling league, and is an 

ardent Golfer shooting in the 80's when he can get out. 

Lt. Commander B.J. Holcomb, USN Ret., 75 of Norfolk, Virginia passed away January 14, 2003 in his 

home. 

A native of Trent, Texas, raised in Borger, Texas, LCDR Holcomb retired from the United States Navy 

after more than 30 years of service. He was a member of Masonic Seaboard Lodge No. 56 in 

Portsmouth, Virginia. 

He is survived by two brothers, James Allen Holcomb of Pampa, Texas and Kenneth Laroy Holcomb of 

Trinity, Texas and two grandchildren Penelope Anne Holcomb and Michael James Holcomb both of 

Spain. He is also survived by a sister in law Judy Muller of Long Island, New York and a host of nieces 

and nephews. He was preceded in death by his wife Virginia (Ginny) Ruth Holcomb, a son CTIC 

James Allen Holcomb U.S.N., parents, Ben and Bennie Holcomb and a brother Roger Crowson 

Holcomb 

A graveside service will be conducted at Arlington National Cemetery with date to be announced at a 

later time. The family will receive friends at Hollomon-Brown Funeral Home, Tidewater Chapel in 

Norfolk, Virginia on Thursday January 16, 2003 from 7-9 p.m. Graveside services are set for Billy John

After graduating from Virginia Weslyn in Norfolk, Va, James traveled to Naples Italy with his parents. 

Worked in Naples until January 10, 1974 at which time his dad swore him into the U.S. Navy. After 

completing Boot Camp in Orlando , Florida, he entered the Russian Language school in Monterey, 

Calif for one year, then to San Angelo for advanced operational training in Russian operational 

procedures. From there he had a short stint at Northwest , Va while his orders were being modified 

from Sinop, Turkey to Rota , Spain. Arrived in Rota sometime in 1976, worked in the Direct Support 

Program, met and married Margarite Cerda Rubiales, had a daughter, Penelope Anne and was 

advanced to Petty Officer 1st Class. From Rota, Spain he was transferred to the National Security 

Activity in Fort G. Meade , Md for a tour of schooling and duty. From there he was sent to Misawa, 

Japan, then to instructor school and then to be an instructor in the operational school in San Angelo,

Texas. From there to Sinop, Turkey on an unaccompied tour and from there back to Rota, Spain. He 

remained in Spain for several years and was then transferred to the National Security Activity where 

he remained until his death. James Allen Holcomb, beloved son of Virginia and B.J. Holcomb and 

husband of Margarite, Father of Penelope Anne and Michael James, passed away at 3:30 AM on the 

25th of August, 1996 in the Norfolk General Hospital, Norfolk, Va. Dr. Goldberg was the attending 

physician. Jimmy came kicking and screaming into this world in Freeport General Hospital in 

Freeport, Long Island, New York on the 8th of March, 1950. He was born into a Navy Family and 

lived his entire life surrounded by his immediate Navy Family and the wider Navy Family he 

encountered as he grew older. He was raised by his Mother and Father and the Navy. Jimmy 

attended school in such diverse places as the Phillipines, Hawaii, California, New York, England, 

Norfolk and the Panama, C.Z. . It was difficult to make and maintain permanent friends but he has 

friends literally all over the world. Jimmy graduated from Granby High School in Norfolk, Virginia 

and went on to graduate from Virginia Weslyan in 1972. He was sworn into the Navy on January 10, 

1974 by his father and was once again in the Navy but this time as an adult. His adult career in the 

Navy was a replica of his youth. He served on Carriers, Destroyers and Submarines. Jimmy loved his 

family and worked hard to ensure they stayed a family despite the many long , lonely separations 

caused by his duties to country and Navy. He was advanced to Chief Petty Officer and was striving 

for advancement to Senior Chief Petty Officer but it was not to be. Death took Jimmy on the 25th of 

August, 1996 and an untimely death it was at the age of 46. Jimmy lived his life as a loving Son, A 

loving Husband and a loving Father. He lived his life with absolute and total regard in the belief of 

Duty, Honor, Family and Country. He was our good, faithful and true Son and we loved him. ( Bill
