STERLING PROPERTY (<strong>1434</strong> E. COMMERCE AND <strong>323</strong> IDAHO)<br />
Phase I Environmental Site Assessment<br />
Company during the site reconnaissance (Exhibits 3 <strong>and</strong> 4; Section 3.5;<br />
Appendix 6). This historic service station is considered a REC for the<br />
subject site due to the close proximity.<br />
Midway Cleaners & Shoe Repair, Midway Shoe Repair, <strong>and</strong> Midway<br />
Cleaners were listed at 1003 East Commerce Street in 1936-37, 1940-41,<br />
<strong>and</strong> 1946 city directories, at 1003 in the 1951, 1962, 1967 city directories,<br />
<strong>and</strong> at 1503 in the 1978, 1983, 1988-89, 1993, <strong>and</strong> 2002 city directories<br />
(Exhibit 4; Map ID 2; Section 5.1; Appendix 6 <strong>and</strong> 7). This address was<br />
identified north <strong>of</strong> East Commerce Street between North Olive Street <strong>and</strong><br />
North Hackberry Street. Midway Cleaners was identified in the regulatory<br />
database report as a DC facility, <strong>and</strong> in the 1951, 1952, 1969, <strong>and</strong> 1971<br />
<strong>San</strong>born Maps. Due to the close upgrade location, Stoddard <strong>and</strong><br />
chlorinated solvents may have adversely impacted the soils <strong>and</strong>/or<br />
groundwater within the site boundary. <strong>The</strong>refore, Midway Cleaners is<br />
considered a REC.<br />
Grayburg Oil Co Station No. 15, August Brothers Filling Station, Weedin<br />
& Boldt Filling Station, Frank Marino Filling Station, Musgrove Service<br />
Station, Washington’s Service Station were listed at 1002 East Commerce<br />
Street from at least 1929-30 to 1957. This address was mapped at the<br />
southeast corner <strong>of</strong> the intersection <strong>of</strong> East Commerce Street <strong>and</strong> South<br />
Hackberry Street. A filling station with PSTs was located at this address<br />
in the 1951, 1952, <strong>and</strong> 1971 <strong>San</strong>born Maps. <strong>The</strong> filling station was<br />
identified as Commerce Quick Stop during the site visit (Exhibits 3 <strong>and</strong> 4;<br />
Section 3.5; Appendix 5, Photograph 6; Appendix 6). Due to the close<br />
upgrade location <strong>of</strong> this historic service station, this property is considered<br />
a REC.<br />
