L’Oréal undertook this appraisal by examining current practices and studying the<br />

recommendations of international institutions and specialist organisations such as<br />

the UN, OECD, European Commission and WBCSD. The Global Reporting Initiative<br />

(GRI) Sustainability Reporting Guidelines 2002 have helped guide this review.<br />

Scope<br />

This report covers all of L’Oréal’s operations and joint venture with Galderma over the<br />

year January–December <strong>2005</strong>.<br />

Verification<br />

Data relating to safety, health and the environment was examined and verified by<br />

Environmental Resources Management, and social data, shown with an asterisk (*),<br />

were validated by PricewaterhouseCoopers Audit. The verification statements can be<br />

found at the end of the report.<br />
