GAIN Fall Meeting<br />
Friday, November 23, 2007<br />
“Pick of the Herds” <strong>Sale</strong>/GAIN Meeting<br />
Jeff Pope, GAIN President, called the meeting to<br />
order at 4:00 p.m. CST<br />
Minutes from the last GAIN meeting in August at the<br />
<strong>Nebraska</strong> State Fair approved by Mark Goes and seconded<br />
by John Lueking as read and printed in the Cornhusker<br />
<strong>Gelbvieh</strong> Round Up.<br />
Treasurers Report submitted by Clay Mead. The<br />
current checking account balance is $6,482.91 and the<br />
money market balance total is $3,950.96. It was stated that a<br />
quote for Husker Harvest Days woodchips is needed for<br />
2008. Monte Warner approved and Randy Schawang<br />
seconded the current treasurer’s report.<br />
Committee Reports<br />
American Classic Balancer <strong>Bull</strong> Futurity<br />
Clay Mead announced that the 2008 Futurity will be working<br />
with Igenity and Rick Pfortmiller on consignment DNA<br />
and other projects. Overall <strong>Gelbvieh</strong> and Balancer consignments<br />
appear to be down from 2007. Futurity catalogs will<br />
be out around the middle of January.<br />
Juniors<br />
Mark Goes discussed the possibilities and talks of having<br />
another joint show with the Kansas Juniors in Bellville, KS.<br />
Talks will continue between both <strong>Nebraska</strong> and Kansas on<br />
various opportunities and locations. Look for updates in the<br />
near future.<br />
New Business<br />
Fall Female <strong>Sale</strong><br />
Jeff Pope asked everyone for their opinion of the sale set up<br />
and for suggestions. The majority of GAIN members and<br />
consignors wanted to search options for moving the future<br />
sales from the Thanksgiving weekend. It was also asked if a<br />
sale committee should be setup in the future. It was agreed<br />
to move discussion to the Kansas <strong>Gelbvieh</strong> <strong>Association</strong><br />
Annual Meeting later in the evening.<br />
Advertising<br />
Clay Mead discussed past and future advertising and wanted<br />
the membership’s opinion for future advertising possibilities.<br />
The 2008 <strong>Gelbvieh</strong> Regional Advertising Program matched<br />
advertising dollars from AGA has increased from $2500 to<br />
$5000. Clay will look into various advertising possibilities for<br />
2008 and will report at the next meeting.<br />

Other Business<br />
It was announced that there was still need for sale help.<br />
Monte Warner will help with ring service, SCC will help with<br />
penning after sale and Brian Bauer will help with load<br />
service.<br />
Next Meeting<br />
Annual Meeting, Grand Island, NE, I-80 Holiday <strong>In</strong>n, January<br />
26, 2008. Rick Pfortmiller, Igenity, will possibly attend the<br />
meeting with updated Igenity information. Randy<br />
Schawang approved and Monte Warner seconded the next<br />
meeting place and time.<br />
Randy Schawang moved to adjourn meeting, Mark Goes<br />
seconded.<br />
