will be delivered by highly qualified instructors, and will offer career pathways, including college<br />

credit, to students who wish to pursue further training.<br />

General Information<br />

Accreditation: The Adult Workforce Education<br />

Division of <strong>Four</strong> <strong>County</strong> <strong>Career</strong> <strong>Center</strong> is<br />

accredited by the North Central Commission on<br />

Accreditation of Colleges and Schools.<br />

Admission: Admission is open to anyone 16 years<br />

of age or older. Classes are open to all students<br />

regardless of race, color, religion, national origin,<br />

sex or handicap.<br />

Payment of Fees: Course fees are payable at the<br />

first class meeting. For employer billing, students<br />

should have a purchase order issued or present a<br />

letter of authorization on the first class meeting.<br />

Consult the Director of Adult Workforce Education<br />

if a payment plan becomes necessary. Cash, check<br />

and VISA or MasterCard are accepted.<br />

Textbooks and Supplies: Textbooks, personal<br />

safety equipment and hand tools are not included<br />

in course fees unless otherwise stated. Books are<br />

available to students on the first night of class.<br />

Personal safety equipment and some hand tools are<br />

available to purchase through the school, but are the<br />

responsibility of the student.<br />

Confirmation of Classes: Everyone who registers<br />

for a class will receive a written confirmation.<br />

The Adult Workforce Education Division of <strong>Four</strong><br />

<strong>County</strong> <strong>Career</strong> <strong>Center</strong> reserves the right to cancel<br />

classes if lacking sufficient enrollment.<br />

Refund Policy: Refunds will be issued from the<br />

Business Office by check only. Refund checks will<br />

be mailed to the student’s home address or to the<br />

appropriate agency. The processing of refunds takes<br />

approximately four to six weeks.<br />

Refunds will automatically be issued to those<br />

whose class is cancelled by the Adult Workforce<br />

Education Division of <strong>Four</strong> <strong>County</strong> <strong>Career</strong> <strong>Center</strong>.<br />

All others must contact the Adult Workforce<br />

Education Office to request a refund.<br />

Refunds for textbooks will be issued only if the<br />

book is in good condition and can be resold as a<br />

new book. No used books will be bought by the<br />

Adult Workforce Education Division of <strong>Four</strong><br />

<strong>County</strong> <strong>Career</strong> <strong>Center</strong>.<br />

Certificate of Completion: A certificate of<br />

completion will be presented to all students who<br />

have satisfactorily attended 80% of scheduled<br />

classes (90% for Public Safety).<br />

Prerequisites: Some programs require other<br />

coursework at an additional fee prior to admission.<br />

Please refer to each program’s requirements as<br />

listed in this catalog.<br />

Pre-Entrance Testing: All applicants for career<br />

development programs must earn a <strong>Career</strong><br />

Readiness Credential before registering for a<br />

program. Students should be prepared to pay<br />

a nonrefundable fee of $75 at the time of the<br />

test. Students who do not take the WorkKeys<br />

assessments prior to the start of their program<br />

will be unable to register or attend class. Some<br />

programs have required scores for admission.<br />

Customized Training: Any Adult Education<br />

offering may be designed to match the needs and<br />

schedules of employers and employees. Much of<br />

the training done through the Adult Workforce<br />

Education Division at <strong>Four</strong> <strong>County</strong> <strong>Career</strong> <strong>Center</strong><br />

is provided to companies through customized<br />

training programs that have been set up through the<br />

Division’s various program areas.<br />

Customized training is an affordable alternative and<br />

may be done on-site or at the <strong>Four</strong> <strong>County</strong> <strong>Career</strong><br />

<strong>Center</strong> in Archbold. By holding on-site training, we<br />

can custom-fit programs to each workplace, and<br />

employees can learn on their own equipment.<br />

Classes may be scheduled around the clock for<br />

second and third shift workers. As in all Adult<br />

Education programs, courses are designed to be<br />

hands-on and practical, and are taught by qualified,<br />

experienced instructors with real work experience.<br />

Continuing Education Credit: CEUs are available<br />

to professional groups. Check with our staff to see<br />

how you can get Continuing Education Credit for<br />

Certified Public Accountants, Public Accountants,<br />

Nurses, and Water and Wastewater CEUs.<br />

Inclement Weather/Class Cancellations: When<br />

the weather affects driving conditions, tune in to<br />

your local radio station to learn if Adult Education<br />

classes have been cancelled. Fog delays also affect<br />

<strong>Four</strong> <strong>County</strong> Adult classes, unless your instructor<br />

informs you otherwise.<br />

If <strong>Four</strong> <strong>County</strong> is closed during the day, Adult<br />

Education classes are automatically cancelled. If<br />

worsening weather conditions require the closing<br />

of classes, this will be announced by 5:00 p.m.<br />

Precision Machining Training – NEW!<br />

Skilled machinists are in high demand in Northwest Ohio and this in-demand training can give you the start<br />

Critical Care Transport – NEW!<br />

<strong>Four</strong> <strong>County</strong> <strong>Career</strong> <strong>Center</strong> is pleased to announce another new class – Critical Care Transport. This<br />

96-hour course provides the critical care transport skills needed to transfer an intensive care patient. The<br />

CCT Paramedic or Nurse will use their expert knowledge obtained in various means of technology and the<br />

benefit of monitors to obtain an optimal outcome for their critical patient. See Page 8 for details.<br />

To combat the “skills gap” problem, American College Testing (ACT) has developed<br />

WorkKeys, a national system of skills measurement specifically designed to serve<br />

STEP ONE:<br />

Earn a <strong>Career</strong> Readiness Certificate<br />

All career development students must earn a<br />

<strong>Career</strong> Readiness Certificate prior to the start of<br />

class. See page 3 for dates.<br />

The fee for the <strong>Career</strong> Readiness Certificate is<br />

$75 and is payable at the time of testing. Seats are<br />

limited — call to register today!<br />

STEP TWO:<br />

Register for Class<br />

Students who are interested in enrolling in a career<br />

development program and who have scored at the<br />

appropriate level for the program of interest must<br />

fill out the registration form and mail or bring it to<br />

the <strong>Four</strong> <strong>County</strong> <strong>Career</strong> <strong>Center</strong> Adult Workforce<br />

Education Office along with a $25 non-refundable<br />

fee. The $25 fee will secure a place in the class and<br />

will be applied to the cost of tuition. Only after we<br />

receive the registration form with the $25 fee<br />

will the student be enrolled in the program.<br />

Now online! Take this course with the flexibility of<br />

real life. This internet based course enables students<br />

to learn the fundamentals of drug classifications and<br />

dispensing. Completed modules qualify students<br />

for a national credential from the Pharmacy<br />

Technician Certification Board (PTCB). This highly<br />

regarded certification aligns with all new federal<br />

guidelines governing the pharmacy industry. Start<br />

Independent Provider<br />

Training $1,800<br />

Today more than ever, STNAs, RNs and LPNs<br />

are in demand to work as independent providers.<br />

Many health plans are utilizing healthcare workers<br />

to provide care to individuals in their own homes.<br />

Patients’ ages can vary from the very young to the<br />

elderly. Insurance companies have found that many<br />

patients can be cared for effectively in their home<br />

and at a cost savings. Medical personnel can have<br />

the freedom to be their own boss, pick their work<br />

hours and choose their clientele.<br />

The process to get registered as a provider and learn<br />

the rules and regulations can be daunting. With<br />

the Independent Provider Training program, we<br />

will walk you through the process. This 16-week<br />

program is a combination of classroom and online/<br />

independent study and is divided into four modules.<br />

You must be a state-tested nurse aide (STNA) or<br />

nurse to enroll in this program.<br />

information. In the Emergency Medical Dispatch<br />

of EMS has adopted a new curriculum for its<br />

Refresher Courses. In order to maintain your<br />

current certification status, you must attend a<br />

refresher course at your current certification to<br />

receive the update at the certification level.<br />

General Education Development<br />

If you are at least 19 years old and an Ohio<br />

resident, you may take the GED test. There is a<br />

$40 fee to take the test. You must register with<br />

the Ohio Department of Education before<br />

reserving a seat for the test. The test is given<br />

from 4:00 – 8:00 p.m. on Wednesdays and 4:00<br />

– 8:30 p.m. on Thursdays at <strong>Four</strong> <strong>County</strong> <strong>Career</strong><br />

<strong>Center</strong>. The test takes two days to complete, unless it<br />

is a retake. In the case of a retake, arrangements will<br />

be made at the time of registration.<br />
