ISLE OF MAN CONSTABULARY DOG SECTION <br />
1993 One Day show <br />
The Isle of Man Constabulary has the<br />
smallest dog section in the United<br />
Kingdom, but this did not stop them , from<br />
holding, on Thursday 5 August last year,<br />
a 'one day dog show' in conjunction with<br />
the Royal Manx Agricultural Show.<br />
Nine handlers and their dogs ,<br />
representing Merseyside, Lancashire,<br />
Cheshire, Greater Manchester and British<br />
Transport Police took part ina competition<br />
based on Part One of Home Office<br />
Schedule of Training, which was judged<br />
by Mr Ron Dean , Retired Chief Inspector,<br />
<strong>Dog</strong> Section, Lancashire Constabulary.<br />
After several hours of intense, but good<br />
natured competition, the eventual winner<br />
was Police Constable Wally Sherington<br />
and his dog Ben, representi ng Merseyside<br />

Police. He also won the trophies for 'Best<br />
Obedience' and 'Best Criminal Work'<br />
sections.<br />
At the conclusion of the competition the<br />
trophies were presented in the main arena<br />
by the Lieutenant Governor of the Isle of<br />
Man, His Excellency, Air Marshall Sir<br />
Laurence Jones. Later all the competitors<br />
and officials were joined at a presentation<br />
dinner by the Island's Chief Constable,<br />
Mr Robin Oake.<br />
Well done, the Isle of Man Constabulary<br />
<strong>Dog</strong> Section - you may have a small<br />
establishment, but you have a big heart.<br />
