At last - a modern approach to<br />
dog kennelling!<br />
The PARASOL Animal Housing System<br />
launched this year at Crufts, applies a unique modem approach to the question of dog housing.<br />
So many conventionl wooden and brick kennels fail to satisfy the high standards now<br />
demanded by Government Environmental Health officers and animal carers alike, and require<br />
constant - and expensive - maintenance and replacement.<br />
To combat these problems and to provide a comfortable and stress-free environment for<br />
working and breeding dogs and boarding kennels, the PARASOL housing system has been<br />
developed over the last few years by experienced Engineers working in collaboration with<br />
Wood Green Animal Shelters, well known in the world of animal welfare.<br />
The PARASOL system system uses pre-assembled modular components allowing flexibility in<br />
layout and ease of installation.<br />
Internal walls are constructed of pre-finished composite panels framed in galvanised steel,<br />
with high grade insulation bonded both sides to water-resistant cement particle board. These<br />
panels have a tough and smooth surface which is resistant to germs and fire alike, and gives<br />
exceptional sound and heat insulation. The pop hole and trapdoor between the sleeping and<br />
exercise areas is fitted with a unique counterbalance system.<br />
All the steel grilles and doors have been designed with safety and security in mind, using<br />
heavy panels and frames galvnised after manufacture and fitted high quality door locks and<br />
hinges.<br />
The most efficient kennel design is the circular PARASOL building - shown here under<br />
construction.<br />
A standard circular PARASOL provides individual sleeping and exercise areas for fifteen<br />
dogs, with an entrance to the central service core fitted with heaters, lighting and ventilation<br />
fan, and facilities for food storage and preparation.<br />
The joy of the PARASOL system is that the same components may also be used in a variety of<br />
different layouts to suit 'barrack-block' kennels in multiple or single units, or to provide<br />
quarantine or breeding quarters.<br />
