CHECKS, HOLDERS & PROPS
STANDARD DOOR CHECKS
Large holdback spring permits the pivot on the door bracket to pass over the center and holds the door open at 90°.
A slight push releases the door to close it automatically.
DOOR CHECK INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS
With compartment door held at 90° position, mount door bracket as close to hinge centerline (X)
as possible so that radius (R) swung about hinge center through pivot (A) is as short as possible.
(Increasing (R) will increase slide travel causing an increase is spring pressure. Reducing (R) will
have the inverse effect.)
Keeping door at 90°, mount slide rod assembly as far away from horizontal hinge center point (Y)
as possible maintaining spring in at rest position. Slide rod assembly should be mounted as close
as possible to vertical hinge centerline (Z) still allowing clearance for swing rod & door bracket
when door is closed.
After mounting, open & close door to check clearance and spring pressure. When mounted properly,
door should open with some resistance through approximately 30°~45° of travel, then travel on
its own until the slide rod assembly contacts the bumper spring stopping the door in the fully open
position. The same spring pressure should be present when closing the door.
To increase spring tension, place door in 90° position (spring at rest). Move bracket (A) away from
centerline, increase (R). To decrease spring tension move door bracket (A) toward hinge centerline,
decrease (R). Please note that maintaining (Z) dimension and adjusting (R) dimension will change
(Y) dimension maintaining the door at a 90° open position.
