Update and discussion regarding Lincoln Heights Courts Security
Measures
SUMMARY:
Lincoln Heights Courts was built in 1940, and consists of 338 units housed in one and two story
concrete buildings.
Lincoln Safety Grant
In February 2012, SAHA was awarded a $250,000 Safety and Security Grant which will be used
to reduce crime and drug-related activity at Lincoln Heights Courts.
The goal of the grant-funded security investment is to make improvements to provide a safer
living environment for the residents at Lincoln Heights Courts. The improvements include
installing fencing around buildings to create defensible spacing, exterior lighting, and closed
circuit cameras that will stream through the property management's computers. Contracts have
been awarded for each of these elements of the grant, and the work will be completed by June
2013.
Lincoln Neighborhood block walks
The Westend Hope Action Organization teamed with the Westend Edgewood Senior Team and
Neighborhood First Alliance to hold a series of community meeting to address crime in their
neighborhoods.
Other attendees include representatives from the San Antonio Policy Department (SAPD), Code
Compliance, and SAHA staff from Security, Community Development Initiatives and Public
Housing Departments. A recent block walk was held on Saturday, March 9, 2013, at Harper's
Chapel Baptist Church, 111 Lombrano Street.
