Weaving articles are finished through passing strips or threads crosswise over<br />

and under lengthwise <strong>on</strong>es. Lengthwise strips are called warps and crosswise <strong>on</strong>es<br />

are called wefts. In order to further beautify them and guard against moth-eating and<br />

mildew, most bamboo woven articles need lacquering. Figure 3.8 and Figure 3.9<br />

respectively illustrate weaving and lacquering.<br />

Bamboo woven articles are composed <strong>of</strong> two categories: utensils and decorati<strong>on</strong>.<br />

Utensils include baskets, plates, trays, vases, pots, boxes, cases, curtains,
