Rohtak fruit and vegetable market was established in the year 2000, though the
notification for Rohtak, Market Committee was issued in the year 1988.
The vegetable market is situated on Rohtak, Sunaria Road opposite Sugar mill
Rohtak. Distance of this vegetable market from the bus stand is 0.5 Kilometers
and the distance from railway station is 1 Kilometers.
98 villages of Sonipat Market Area fall in the jurisdiction of Rohtak Market
Committee. In this Market Committee, 70 Commission agents and 24 Wholesale
dealers are operating. Here retailers also participate.
Though, Cold storage and processing units are eligible to obtain license and
operate in this Market, but presently there are no such units.
In this market both perishable and semi-perishable commodities arrive. They
have been grouped into two categories Category ‘C’ and category ‘D’.
In category ‘C’ semi-perishable vegetables have been kept, e.g.-Potato,
Shakarkandi, Onion, Garlic and Ginger. In category ‘D’ perishable vegetables
and fruits have been kept.
