In 2012 Boardwalk continued to invite Customers and Associates to
go to Tijuana, Mexico with a program called Homes of Hope through
YWAM. Boardwalk was able to make two trips to Tijuana, during which
a combined total of six houses were built. There were 123 Associates
who went on these trips, and 18 Customers were able to attend as well.
These trips will continue throughout 2013.
In 2012 Boardwalk Associates participated in Operation Christmas
Child, and this year, we invited Customers to participate as well.
Together, Boardwalk Associates and Customers put together 2,123
shoeboxes for children in need around the world; this is almost 200
more shoeboxes than Boardwalk packed in 2011.

Boardwalk has electrically metered over 5,500 suites in an effort
to continue to make our Customers aware of their impact on the
environment. We continue to purchase and install low-flow shower
heads and toilets in our suites, as well as use paint with low voC and
that meets all of the standards to ensure that it is environmentally
friendly. Boardwalk also purchases energy star appliances.
The mechanical systems that Boardwalk uses are energy efficient.
Boardwalk sites use timers and photocells in outdoor lighting to
ensure lights do not stay on all of the time, as well as LED lights in
emergency fixtures. In 2013 we will be beginning a project in Ontario
that involves replacing all light fixtures with CFL fixtures.
Boardwalk ensures that all Investor materials are made available
online on our Investor Website www.BoardwalkREIT.com which helps
us to reduce our paper usage tremendously. In 2012 we distributed our
2011 Annual Report exclusively online. For our 2012 Annual Report we
will be printing limited copies as well as providing an online version.
We continue to encourage our Investors to register online to receive
our Annual Report and other Investor materials.
We use FSC-certified mixed sources paper for our annual reports.
