New Community<br />

Welcome to Columbus!<br />

Farrfield Manor, <strong>RHF</strong>’s newest community, was dedicated on<br />

April 8th. More than 100 people witnessed the ceremony, took<br />

tours of the community and enjoyed a wonderful barbeque lunch<br />

- Georgia style!<br />

State Senator Ed Harbison, Paul Diegnan (Director of Operations<br />

and Support from HUD’s Atlanta office), Mrs. Addie Gardner<br />

(first resident to move into Farrfield Manor), Florence Webb (<strong>RHF</strong><br />

Project Manager for construction of Farrfield) Dr. Laverne Joseph,<br />

Aretha Richards (Farrfield’s Manager) and Jeff Ferguson (<strong>RHF</strong><br />

Regional Manager for the East Coast) participated in the Ribbon<br />

Cutting ceremony.<br />

Wellcare of Georgia underwrote the cost of the event and donated a<br />

Bingo machine and supplies to the residents.<br />

This community is <strong>RHF</strong>’s fourth community in the state of Georgia<br />

(Benson Manor in Smyrna, Dogwood Apartments in Milledgeville, and<br />

Ingleside Manor in Macon) and the first community in Columbus.<br />

Farrfield Manor is a three-story apartment community specifically<br />

designed for older adults who are at least 62 years of age. <strong>The</strong>re<br />

are 74 one-bedroom units and one two-bedroom manager’s<br />

unit. Four of the units are handicap accessible designed to<br />

benefit the mobility impaired and one unit is provided for those<br />

who are hearing and/or visually impaired.<br />

Farrfield Manor features a community room with a party<br />

kitchen to be used by the residents for a variety of social,<br />

educational, and recreational activites. <strong>The</strong> entry lobby<br />

and lounge provides a friendly environment for the residents<br />

to socialize.<br />

<strong>The</strong>re are computer rooms equipped with computers for the<br />

residents to use and a crafts room accommodates wet and dry crafts.<br />

A game area provides opportunities for resident socialization, and<br />

an exercise area affords residents the ability to exercise within the<br />

security and convenience of their own community. <strong>The</strong>re is also a<br />

laundry room equipped with coin-operated washers and dryers and<br />

folding tables enabling the residents to do their laundry on site.<br />

<strong>The</strong> typical unit design provides one bedroom, a kitchen<br />

with a pass-through counter, refrigerator, range, and vent.<br />

<strong>The</strong> mobility impaired, accessible units have roll-in<br />

showers for ease of access for those residents in<br />

wheelchairs. <strong>The</strong>y also have appropriate appliances,<br />

counter and sinks, and turning radius to meet the special<br />

needs of the mobility impaired.<br />
