show news and reviews SHOW REVIEWS H&H Cologne Held from 8-10 April 2011, the H+H Cologne show was a great success with an increase in the number of exhibitors and visitors. At the show 263 exhibitors from 31 countries presented the largest product range worldwide to the national and international specialised trade which was made up of about 11,000 trade visitors (a 10 percent increase on last year). H+H Cologne provided an attractive supporting programme including the great trend fashion show, a large workshop programme and special shows from artists and institutions. “All relevant indicators show a positive trend. This is true for the number of exhibitors and visitors as well as the mood in the industry. With this result, the seamless change from the guest event to trade fair ensures that H+H Cologne absolutely is confirmed”, says Jan Pothof, General Manager of Koelnmesse Ausstellungen GmbH. The trade fair result turned out to be equally positive in nearly all segments. “The customers are interested in new things, are enthusiastic about trendy creative ideas and keen on realising them at the point of sale,” said Hedi Ehlen Chairwoman of the Initiative Handarbeit e. V. Trade Fair Board and Director of Prym Consumer GmbH. Achim Hamann, Director of Schoeller Süssen GmbH, added: “Considering the positive industry situation, the trade is innovative, motivated and all in all more progressive compared to previous years. It has experienced the trend; knitting is up to date and now requires new techniques and concepts. We are very pleased as well as Half Moon Bay for a ration book box file and Notable designs for Ciak Duo notebook. British Craft Trade Fair Held in Harrogate in April, organisers have reported a sales boom at the British Craft Trade Fair. Jessica Sherriff of Jessica Jewellery Design had her most successful exhibition to date, with trade sales up by 20 percent on last year. Her eye catching jewellery stood out to buyers and she received orders from both existing and brand new stockists from various parts of the Uk. Jessica said “I am thrilled with the positive increase in sales. The Stationery Show The Stationery Show is the UK’s only dedicated stationery exhibition for trade buyers and took place at the Business Design Centre in London in April. A well attended show culminated in the inaugural Stationery Awards, judged and presented by a team of leading buyers from the National Trust, Bentalls, Postmark, Ryman’s and Paperchase.
