Our team of young testers all thoroughly enjoyed making their kits. We share the results below
NAME: Esmee Richardson, age 14
KIT : Lovehearts - Buttonbag
DESCRIPTION: The box makes the kit look very
eco-friendly. It is sturdy and really useful to hold
all the bits of my work in progress. The pictures
on the front were clear. They showed me what
to expect and gave me ideas on which colours
looked good together. They also showed that
big stitching can look great. It was very easy to make these and there
was plenty of material in a wide variety of patterns, textures and
colours and loads of pretty thread too. The needles were good quality.
Instructions were crystal clear. Mum not required!
FAVOURITE PART OF
THE KIT: I loved the
freedom of being
able to create my
own design, match up
favourite colours and
choose any stitching I liked. I
felt this was my own project,
not just something from a
kit which looked the same
as everyone elses.

NAME: Hannah
Rudd, age 8
KIT: Daisy Farm Kit -
Krafty Hands
DESCRIPTION: The
kit was packaged
simply, but it certainly
was good enough for
a gift. I wanted to give
the disc to my friend
who came for tea! All
that was needed was
included in the kit
and the print quality
of the items was
fantastic. Instructions
were clear, although
for a few sections I did need to ask for mum's help.
FAVOURITE PART OF THE KIT: Making the gift tags was my
favourite section, these can be used for a lots of different things.
SCORE OUT OF 10: 10/10 - this is something I have never
done before and whilst mum and I go into lots of different craft
shops we are yet to find anything like this.
NAME: Kezia Richardson, age 10
KIT : Wooden Dreamcatcher Kit -
Babydreamcatcher.com
DESCRIPTION: The packaging was really sturdy,
big enough to keep all my bits in as I was making
my dreamcatcher. It was in as good condition at
the end as when I started.
I quickly got to the really good bit where I
could thread beads and feathers on to it. The
knotting was a bit tricky at first and I should have cut the twine so
it didn’t twist but it was really easy once I got the hang of it. I loved
sticking the feathers through the beads with glue. I also like that there
is a lot of twine and loads of beads left
over so I can make another one.
It was all pretty straightforward once
I understood that there were few ‘rules’
and I could do whatever I liked. I like
that no-one else will have one the
same as mine.
FAVOURITE PART OF THE KIT:
It’s just so pretty and looks like it
took me ages to complete when
in fact it was easy and quick.

NAME: Paige Leggett,
age 14
KIT : DecoArt Framed
Stencils - County Love
Crafts
DESCRIPTION: The
package of the stencils
and paints looked very
appealing and looked like
it would make a nice gift.
However the brushes
needed for this kit did
not come with it and I
only had a small paint
brush which wasn’t really
suitable for the stencilling but I still managed to give it a go.
The instructions were easy to follow and helped me when I got
confused or wasn’t sure what to do next.
FAVOURITE PART OF THE KIT: I liked mixing the colours to
help create a ‘themed’ frame which would appeal to different
people.
SCORE OUT OF 10: 7/10 as it was fun to do and kept me
entertained. It was also a great way to be creative.
